Happy to say... We believe we found the gremlin in the ECU's. Did a pull today and got 1193 @ 6100 . ECU's are getting them out to get tweeted. Should me good for next pull... I Love Cobra!!! LoL happy
Hey @Boat Vibes, Whipple tunes ECM's or PCM's really well. If you talk to them and send them a sheet with all the spec's, you will be pleasantly surprised how well they do. They will ask for all the information on the engine so make sure you have it so they can flash it correctly. Happy 4th! Be safe!
@jeff H . Yes. Sorry I found it funny. Actually thought you were jokingly being sarcastic... By, suggesting a car/outboard tuner opposed to a big race engine builder/tunner. My bad if you were trying to help and being serious... If So my apologies...
@@MrLuisSotero Kevin is a race engine builder/ tuner . One of his latest is a twin turbo 1200hp motor. I suggest to check out his business if you get a chance.
@@heathen_7 Unfortunately yes this does happen alot. However if you are a good engine builder you should know how to tune an engine as well. It's like being a race car driver an not knowing how to change the oil.
*Very important* on a very friendly note and not meant to Ruffle anyone's Feathers or Insecurities. I feel there's something that needs to be cleared up and fairly quickly. Prior to any undeserving and ignorant sh*t talking from going off the rails… For the sake of Education: “Cobra Power”.(Randy Garica),(aka C&G Power) have been successfully building big Power Monster Motors since the early '80s (The Hay Day's), way before most if not everyone on here ever even turned a wrench. If there is anything Randy knows besides how to treat people & success, is MOTORS. Hence why the True O.G’s/Old Schoolers could & do refer to Randy as the “God Father of Power”. So give him the respect that is due, please!!! So as to what we share, there is no place here for the ignorant hateful naysayers-snowflakes. So you see - In one way or another the Powerboat industry has been supported and supplied by Cobra Power & this is not hearsay. I grew up as a child and a young teen going to that shop and others, periodically & seeing and learning the game well… My mentors were Cool Cats… I've been deep in this game almost my entire life or better yet as far back as I can possibly remember. I know an engine builder, a scammer, a fake ass-fake it to you make it-type of guy/gal, The wannabe Bearded Bay Race Boat Drivers, and knowledgeable, engineered, well educated & experienced engine Manufacturers/Builders from a Mile away... I am willing to paying big $, to experiment to get the most reliable Big Power/bang for your buck, that I can possibly get for the #Donzi. With that said. I unequivocally and blindly have put all my trust into Cobra and will continue to do so even with headaches foreseen in the future. Which will be the byproduct of innovation looking forward. We have planned a series of 5-7 tweaking dyno pulls per motor until we get the best results. The issue that is at hand here, is not the engine build or the tuning it's the programming that best suits my setup needs and desires. If you take the time to look at the videos you will see that everything that Randy has claimed from the get-go has been far exceeded to the T. We slapped on the bone stock E.C.U. therefore replacing the one that was Programmed/Flashed elsewhere. We immediately saw results. Meaning that Cobra Made my 1075 into 1100+ on Pump Gas “89”@6000. (Stuck ECU's) What Randy set forth as a minimum... We are also working with a very-very, unnamed highly experienced Builder/Tuner to help tweak the program and the tune, We knew first hand that configuration, tweaking, and tuning will be needed. Hence why we have decided to be patient to do this one right. This will benefit and help everyone that has big SCI Mercury Motors moving forward... That kind of service and attention to detail is seldom never seen in this industry and most of you on here well in your core know this... So you all know, We pretty much show up for the last 3 months to #COBRA at least 3 times a week and usually end up having to pry ourselves out of there @” closing time”, (Like the last call at the bar), because it is a very educational, very welcoming, & it is an absolute Pleasant environment and Personnel to be around, regardless of the final outcome. I am more than certain that will exceed expectations. (1150+@ 5800). I feel Beyond fortunate and blessed to call Cobra Power a 2nd home and have the relationships, friendship and, respect of "Randy Garcia”, along with his crew. So you see, So,, A Positive, Productive suggestion & opinion is absolutely welcomed. On the other hand, unless you can prove and back up more knowledge and more experience with success a negative opinion or worthless criticism has no place on this thread... Just sit back and Learn Boys & Girls... How it is done right!!! Let The Experience Pros do their job the way they have successfully known how to for North of 40 years before most of you were even born. Also want to address the statement by the dude in the background as far as the tuning he was truly not involved directly in our conversation and you really had no clue on what we were talking about. To his defense, he was lost and only presumed we were talking about a carbureted motor that does require tuning and re-jetting. So disregard anything you hear in the background unless it is uttered out of Randy himself… I feel confident in my educated decision on the people working on this partial project. I want to thank #CobraPower, (Randy Garcia& Crew), #PerformanceBoatCenter (Jose Pagan & his Crew), #PrecisionMarine (Mark Boos), #TeagueMarine #BobTeague. #HardenMarine, All these incredibly competent knowledgeable professionals I chose to be involved in this for the extreme level of professionalism and expertise along with having patience with me as I myself am a bit O.C.D. from my Aviation background....
@@MrLuisSotero I completely understand your logic and loyalty to your engine builder. Just saying these are not the old "hay day" engines. Electronics play a huge part. Was just suggesting getting assistance from a proven tuning person. Best of luck on your journey, calm seas ahead man.
