Another sleeper for this deck is Betrothed of Fire 1(R) Enchantment Aura Sacrifice an untapped creature: Enchanted creature gets +2/+0 until end of turn Sacrifice enchanted creature: Creatures you control get +2/+0 until end of turn. What I like most about this card, is it's good if you're about to get a bunch of token, or you already do. Enchant it to Xyris, wheel, then sacrifice like 9 creatures to get his power up to 21, kill an opponent, draw 21 cards, and still have tokens left over. If you don't have Xyris just his tokens, attach it to some useless one and give all your snakes +2/+0 and just overrun people

My first draft of this deck I threw it in and had two of my opponents have a combo of one playing a spell and one playing a counter and it was real great to be like "uhhhhh ok y'all draw 7, i'll make 14 snakes, thanks"

Proliferate doesn't work that way like what Jeremy and Jon said on Malignant Growth anymore... Instead, when you pick an object with counter to proliferate, you proliferate all the counters on it... You don't get to choose what to proliferate anymore...

Breath of fury on a token seems fun. Combine it with Kaseto for an unblockable 5/7 snake leviathan.

Coveted Jewel seems kind of bad considering its six mana. I'd rather play Forced Fruition. Also, I'm playing a card most people haven't heard of, namely "Lore Broker". Seems good with Intruder Alarm and the Locust God.

Gonna jump in just to say I did build this deck and have been extensively playing it and the group hug part of it REALLY does not work. Xyris is far too scary for people to take the bait of group hug trade off to not mess with your board. It’s way better to just play a lot of wheels and protection for Xyris from all my testing because once he is dealt with twice you’re usually defaulting on Mizzet or Locust God as your backup commander and they don’t care about your opponents drawing cards

They changed proliferate so when you choose a permanent or player they get additional counters of every counter they have, so if you had a poison and experience counter you'd get one extra of each

A true group hug deck with this commander would be wonderful! because its just group hug, but maybe you eek out a win with all your tokens. much better than something like pheldagryff where you have to rely on something like Lab Maniac if you want to play grouphug with an actual chance of winning.

Kinda curious about Mana Echoes. I see on Gatherer that it would work for even one card (example play xyris, get a colorless) but it's add 1 for /each/. So if wheel a table and make 21 snakes, am I getting some absurd amount because it's add 1 for each creature you control + for each that enters. Sorry if this wording is weird, but if I can make 21 snakes and get like a million mana for it, hmmmm.....

It works out to something like 420ish mana. Works great with things like comet storm.

I bought the precon and will keep Kalamax at the helm of his own deck, however I really wanted to have Xyris lead his own sort of snakefort deck. Thanks for this video. And in the realm of random obscure cards in decks, I run Cadaverous Bloom in my Damia deck.

11:55 *smartass mode on* Proliferate doesn't work like that anymore. It adds a counter of each kind on any chosen permanent, so you can't increase the growth counters but ignore the age counters on your enchantment anymore. *smartass mode off*

701.24b If a permanent or player chosen this way has more than one kind of counter, the player who is proliferating chooses which kind of counter to add.

@@Cookie_Nova Yes. that had been right under the old rules until War of the Spark happened. Proliferate as a keyword isn't even unter 701.24 anymore (it's 701.26 now).

With copy spells, Revive, Praetor’s council, and Second Harvest, I’ve gotten thousands of snakes onto the battlefield in a single turn. I aim to one day achieve getting 100k snakes on the battlefield in a single turn. Why? Because why not?
