Who doesn't like an old Rockhopper or Stumpjumper? This is a very cool build, especially with the clearcoated polished frame/forks. Love the hot pink decals and an otherwise understated stealth colour theme! Inspirational 👍👌😎
Thanks for the kind words. I do try my best to understand the client's taste and deliver a concept that I think aligns with what they want and is tasteful.
Thanks🙂. I try to ride the line between being true to the era and something that isn't over the top visually. In my opinion, brightly colored cable housings draw the eye away from much more important details and focus it on one of the least interesting parts of the bike. That's also not to say I haven't done it. To each their own.
Hi, you do a really nice job on this custom build it's been a while that i look at someone who put a 1x10 transmission on a retro mtb. Just a little question what's the specs of the cassette you put with this 10s shimano Tiagra ?
Its an 11-40 10 speed microshift cassette. Its a bit heavier than i would like but the choice was made for range and cost. Hoping the weight will translate into something a bit more durable. We will see. Hope that helps.
From my experience each frame is different, and some have more room than others. That being said if you get to a 26x2.4 it's just about 700 territory, so with a smaller 700 tire it will definitely fit in some frames. For example: At the shop, we have a steel kona that we swapped the rear dropouts for track dropouts to make a fixed trick bike. It's running 700x36c and is about 2 milimiter away from the seat stay bridge.
@timtaylor9590 That's why there is no problem on the fixed trick bike. There are no brakes. All braking is done by the pedales through the fixed cog. But yes, the brake track is in a different position. Just changing to Vbrake may still not get you the adjustment range needed. Paul componenets sell a specific design that allows for significant enough adjustment that they can be used without doubt. Or if you know a frame builder the brake mounts can be repositioned.
