I emptied hoarder homes and prepared overgrown trashed properties for 15 years, and became quite the brush and overgrowth clearing "expert" The best device I ever used was my own device I called the gas powered machete: It was a Redmax 32cc handheld weed trimmer with an edger head on it. I attached a table saw blade with carbide teeth with a homemade mount, thing was literally ridiculously awesome as well as potentially dangerous. I ran that thing hours a day for years and it never let me down or injured anyone. It was the absolute best for edging overgrown sidewalks, cutting brush, tree branches, bushes, viny entanglements, and you could whittle away stumps all the way underground in a hurry.
@ProlificInvention
@ProlificInvention 2 года назад
Also used it for chipping ice (it just makes little lines on bare concrete, it doesn't react with it because the blades spinning so fast it skips the surface) it also worked for debarking logs, cutting up mattresses and couches when they got stuck in hoarder houses, cutting carpet 😆, cutting drywall, cutting tree roots, and many other uses.

We have the largest gas powered Kombi power unit they make and love it! Big fan of the torque that electric provides and always felt this would enhance the Kombi system, have been looking at an electric chain saw and was on the fence if needing to change out the power unit but after watching this we are sold. Love that the attachments work on either gas or battery powered units. The pole saw is a beast for its size, takes a beating and keeps on going! We have several hundred feet of property that the county plows love to cover with gravel all winter while plowing snow, the paddle wheel does an amazing job cleaning the rocks up each spring. Does a great job also cleaning up along the lake shore after storms deposit a bunch of rock, sand and shells. We also use the brush cutter and grass trimmer attachments regularly. Thank you for the great content!

The reciprocating saw head would be great around wooden fence posts rather than using a stringed weed whip. As you know Stan, I love new products but hate paying the high price of R&D. Great video and thanks for posting this for us.

@Doubie. 2 года назад
They will tear any fence up I have a redmax split with a recip, blade head, trimmer head, broom head (with both brush options and tiller tines) and an edger The recip if you touch the fence will draw a line on the post or if it’s vinyl just cut threw it from the action of the blades moving it’s essentially just a circular hedge trimmer I would recommend them more for gravel driveways trimming down under pine trees when you don’t know what’s in the needles or if you just don’t want to throw grass/anything else I have a lot of rock gardens I cut with mine and they also edge really well if you don’t mind sharpening the knives a lot but you can edge sections or permanent bed edging like a driveway without damaging the plastic aluminum stone or whatever else it’s made of
@michaelmaker8169
@michaelmaker8169 2 года назад
That is a good point, don't need to sneak up on the fence. Also with chain links. I would like to see a brush blade like this instead of those 3 bladed ones.
@Dirtmonkey
@Dirtmonkey 2 года назад
I can see where that recripocating head is the bee's knees but also sometimes it won't be the best choice. It will leave a mark but won't tear stuff up so caution is still needed.
@Doubie.
@Doubie. 2 года назад
@@michaelmaker8169 they make different blades some blades are heavy grass like that 3 blade others are brush you can get them both with the machine or separately and just change them out also I love a recip for doing around chain link fencing it’s just not a no mark option for posts and fence panels that touch or are embedded into the ground to be honest though a 3 blade flail trimmer head would probably be a better option for long fence rows

Out here in the PNW, our volunteer Pacific Crest Trail maintenance crew has a FS110 and a mix of 4 or 5 FS240's & FS250's, all with the double harness and bike handles. We set 'em up with carbide tipped circular saw blades and they do a number on the huckleberries and salmonberries that try and overgrow the trail. We can clear half mile, 3/4 of a mile of brush from the trail in a volunteer length working day, 8 feet wide, with 2 or 3 of the brush saws humming along and another 4 or 5 people following along on clean up with rakes and pitch forks. Love our Stihl gear here in the PNW. In May, I'm going down to Nor Cal to spend a week on a volunteer crew clearing brush from the PCT.

Hold on for a min., these are supposed Pro use tools but at 5:50 I just heard the rep say battery time is 25-45 mins. So one man will need 12-16 batteries to do one 8 hour shift if hes working all day. 4 man crew, 48 plus frigg'n batteries. Maybe someone should invent a magic liquid we can keep in as many jugs as needed to "rechardge" a screaming banshee of 2-stroke linage. Prayers have been answered, we have such tech. This is for all the people that are starting a Business I bought two steals about two years ago one edger and one Weedwhacker my biggest mistake was that I did not get a Comby on my edger or Weedwhacker instead I just got two single units now I have to go buy a third unit in order to get a hedge trimmer, flower bed redefine, pull saw, Broom…
@Dirtmonkey
@Dirtmonkey 2 года назад
Yeah- just start with the combi and be done with it. How do you like your Stihl equipment after 2 years?

When wil Stihl make a zero turn mower like EGo? I have a couple of the AP300 tools the string trimer and the blower. They are bit pricy but it is a good product.

The string head that he shows at the 315 Mark I hate I have probably owned 10 different models of Stihl trimmers in my life and I believe I have six different Stihl pieces of equipment right now from the different lines. Maybe more. But I have ordered an older head for my string Trimmer Through my local dealer Kaser equipment in Knoxville Illinois because that one that he showed at the 315 mark burns through string. I also will fight battery operated equipment till the last second that I can find mixed oil and new old equipment.

I live in CA and have 14 Stihl Kombi attachments and 1 power head (Gas), the law is that you're allowed to keep your existing gas equipment, but you won't be able to buy new gas equipment, many guys I've seen talk about it on YT are hoping this law gets repealed and this law may be pushed back until feasible.

1:36 FSA means Fixedhead Stand Alone (1 piece unit real marketing genius to confuse the customer), KMA means Kombi Multihead Attachment unit system so you can just buy an attachment for it. (MEI) Minnestoa Equipment-Rogers~Sales Rep. Eric what i don't like about any of these machines is they are specifically designed for the optimum comfort of people who are 5'4" or shorter. at 6'4" all these pole trimmer machines are extremely hard on the back, hard on the arms and automatically put the machine at an angle 45º into the dirt, are extremely difficult to reach under pines and cause you to be bent over all the time and not have a nice easy swing parallel to the ground. i specifically bought the kombi system with an extension and then the trimmer head attachment that is only 12" so now i have a nice 8' boom that puts me parallel to the ground and not having to bend over at all, gives me a nice smooth swing and takes alot of the machines weight off my arms having to hold it up like i'm a baseball batter at home plate and walk all over 25-50 acres like that all day. that circular blade is great for rough cutting especially for pencil like scrub brush and also for thistles and other prickly weeds. do not use any of the brush cutters on slopes over 30 degrees as falling and having feet and legs slide into the blades before they stop a few seconds after your butt is resting on the ground is an excellent way to cut flesh Achilles tendons and muscles in the legs and feet. do not so anything but flat ground while wet or dew or iced/snow. i have slide 30 feet down a slight decline and right on to the ponds boulder wall while using to trim down out of control bushes that were let go for 10-15 years while on dry grass in the middle of summer in late afternoon on a 15º decline. make sure you have near new to very good tread on your boots.

45 mins to charge. 25 mins to deplete. So… you would need at least 3 sets of batteries to keep it going all day?

maybe 2 if you had access to charge while at work.

Idk bout that scissor circle cutter maybe like an roller underneath to keep the hight and not dig into the dirt 🤔...idk if that make sense
@JohnDoe-np3zk
@JohnDoe-np3zk 2 года назад
Since it is just scissoring maybe won't dig into the dirt much vs. a spinning wheel that wants to catch.
@Dirtmonkey

You can take it right into the dirt without it doing to much damage.

This gear is still very expensive. The AR 3000 L is the biggest battery backpack they make ($1500) and it has an advertised run time according to my local shop of 85-526 minutes. I’m willing to bet in thick grass at full throttle the machine probably gets just over 1 hour. I cut down weeds all day long during the busy season. I run an FS 240 and a KM 131. I may buy one of these KMA electric units for smaller jobs because they are nice and quiet but they are not even close to replacing gas yet. I’ve already got the Milwaukee weed wacker with 4 large batteries and I only use it for edging lawns and tiny weed wacking jobs like 1000 square feet or less. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 3000 L is fairly powerful but the run time seriously lacks for most professionals. Also how about having a 20 pound backpack on with an annoying cord connected when your hedge trimming?
