This video gives you an idea of what’s involved in upgrading an 80s to early 90s 20 or 25hp to 30 or 35. Only two parts need to be changed out: the carb and the intake. The. You simply adjust the throttle linkage and you are done.
Добрый день. Отличная работа! У меня такой же мотор, только с ручным стартером. Хотел поменять на электрический, но в нас в России запчастей почти нет на него
Easy easy but you do have to start with the later larger displacement 20 hp in order to get, inter alia, the larger flower-shaped leaf valves. Happy conversion to all !
@@Bigtime_mcalpine yes I took mine out what it does is makes it 30 with it 35 with out big time gain people don't no in these channels popping up 🤣u might see my comments but back to the chalkboard carb kits on line some have freeze caps for the top now 38hp Johnson carb same size an jets .
@@bobbleja2244 a friend the carb I have it came off of a Evinrude 70s 70 hp bottom carb it doesn't have the bar in it it has the same jet main as a 30 hp stock but with no bar it can get more gas thru to the motor witch makes more power to be a 35 hp in stead of a 30 with the bar restriction less gas . I hope that makes cents . You can read up on the forums on Internet
What are the earliest/latest motors on which this upgrade works? I'd like to buy an evinrude, that has power pack ignition, but the pull rope part is not painted... So it looks early 80s
I don’t know the exact year but as long as it’s not a split gear case it can be done. Earlier models require some minor carb adjustments like I did on mine but I think all 80s and all 90’s until maybe 98 can have this done.
I think some early 80s motors has different lower unit (with 70s style exhaust - and "cone shaped" prop nuts) but with -whats the proper term?- not the shear type props, but nor the modern looking "holed" props, like the one you probaby have. So Im a bit unsecure to buy that. What do you mean by split gear transmission?
I have 1989 model with electric starter. Thinking to do same thing. I have couple questions 1. Do you have parts number? 2. Do you need to adjust the timing?
The line from the intake manifold connects to the primer jet on the top of the carb? I have an 85 and the line from the primer pump goes to the jet on top of the carb. I don't understand how yours works if it's setup the way I said.
@@Bigtime_mcalpine lol! I repair them for a living! Good grief, you’ve obviously never had a block disassembled, and you certainly don’t understand the principles of internal combustion, especially a 2 stroke! You didn’t do your homework on me, i have videos that shows my skills! Libraries are free, yet you choose to remain ignorant! I’ll not comment any further on the matter, as i’m sure it’ll be futile!
The 20,25,28,30,35 2 cylinder 31.8 cubic inch blocks are same same. The smaller 22 cubic inch older 18/20/25hp from the 60's/mid 70's is not the same block.
