Comparing which one sounds better. Component speakers are way better even in the rear especially using the stock tweeter position. Speration of sound and cleaner sound.
Helpful comparison. However, the JL’s are $330 & the Focals are $105. So, not like for like. Look for “ sensitivity “ ratings when shopping for speakers to pair with a HU only set up. Typically, the higher the sensitivity, the better they’ll pair with budget or HU only set ups. Let’s face it, coaxials are designed primarily w/ budget & a simpler installation in mind.
There is literally no difference! This guy is just comparing cheap junk to high end stuff. Don't believe me? Go to JL audios website right now and look at there 6.5 speakers. They are designed to be either way! JL audio knows coaxs are better because of placement. You don't get that goofy sound separation you do when mounting a tweeter some other place. Even JL audio them selves will tell you coaxes are better when everything is of the same quality!
Good to see sound deadener on the doors. I've lost count of the number of speaker upgrade videos I've seen on RU-vid where they don't bother to treat the doors. The best speakers in the world would sound terrible in a bad enclosure. It's well worth watching the tutorial videos from Crutchfield etc (how to install vibration damping material). It's also well worth adding Fast Rings or similar. Done properly, it will increase midbass, also background noise will be reduced, so will improve clarity.
After this video I went crazy with sound deadening. Also do t cheap out on material or it will become more costly. I ended up switching to the nvx premium sound deadner and each sheet weighed about 5 lbs. really good stuff
Dude your video is spot on you give a legit comparison between Coaxials vs Components speakers and its easy to hear the musical details and imaging far better with the Component speakers. Good job !!!
Them JL audios are literally designed to be either or! The only difference here is brands. If everything was equal the Coaxials would be better. You don't get that sound separation problem with them. Even JL audio them selves admit that! Probably why you can go to JL audios website right now and buy there 6.5s and set them up as Coax or component. The only reason you believe what you believe is probably because most coaxials are normally lower end quality. If they are the same quality coax wins hands down!
I've sit in an skoda octavia with 8 speakers, 2 sets of components front and rear and the high rear tweeter just hits diferents, the sound is way more evolving.
Competent better but still Coaxle is nice for ppl that don’t have tweeters or want to build extra setup to run tweeters. I just bought some prv coaxle for that reason. I’m searching for some nice 10s to run now. Great video thanks for your time
That sounded beautiful! Man you made up my mind with that comparison. Ugh I'm so pissed cause I already bought 4 coaxial speakers, lol. The highs on the coax in my car are harsh, and it sounds like the frequencies are overlapping with the tweeter in my dash. I'm thinking about putting the coaxial's in the back doors, and then having a component setup in the front. Do you think this is a good idea? Or should I just use 4 mid woofers and replace the tweeter in the dash?
Yes components up front and coaxial in rear. That’s the most common setup especially if you can some sound staging. If you want to just be loud and not have great sq then yes cocoas all around. You will be amazed what a good set of components upfront 2 way or even a 3 way with midrange can do.
@@shockwaveeynot worth it, your not going to be listening to it, the rear is just filler sound for you, if you want to be nice to your passengers go with components but it’s usually not worth it because you don’t sit there and won’t hear a difference since it’s filler sound
I’m switching to component speakers soon!!!! I thought the coaxial speakers would have done what I wanted but not enough bass and they sound horrible in my opinion.
Sir ji ye btao ki coaxial speaker JBL 350 wattage wale speaker me apni choice ke hisab se Kitne watt wale tweeter best rhega lgwana combination dono ka
Im bad with twems. Idk what coaxials vs components is. This website said he really likes the JL Audio C2650 and recommends it, but last 3-4 videos, it seems like the Focal might be better/they review that JL sounds little flat than focal.
So in terms of names coaxial amd woofer are 1. Tweeter in the middle and woofer are separate same with the crossover. Do you need a amp? No. Does it help? Yes makes it sound louder and cleaner. Depending on the amp you get. You don’t need a lot of power to get decent sounds. The focal sound better bc they have higher sentivity so it needs less power to get moving and get loud. So if you don’t want a amp get a speaker with high sensitivity like the JL AUDIO C1. If you want to get loud look for a speaker that have a high power rating and lower sensitivity. Hope this helps.
@@mildaudiophile3879 Okay that makes more sense. Unfortunately JL C1 wont fit into my vehicle which the representative said JL C2 would fit. If I do decide to get an amp, would focal be good choice then?
@@nbigman11 If you can fit a JLC2 you can fit a Jl c1. Vocal is also very good but if you want the good stuff it gets expensive. Look at my last video where I am box a set of infinity kappa perfect 600 speakers. If you are in the states they are on sale on Crutchfield for $300 this speaker is normally $650 but it’s being discontinued. I the only problem is that the infinity kappa is kind of deep so you will need to get a special speaker adapter unless your door has room in it you need at least 1-2 inches or any speaker magnet to clear
i had to return my c2 650s. tweeters were harsh and the mids were just horrible. super muddy and distorted… ps i did sound deadening and powered by a jl amp
Dude, it is indredible that your recording actually is able to show the difference between one and annother. I mean, it usually is very hard to tell something apart in a youtube video. That being said let me make a comment on your setup and one on something you assumed explaining acoustics.
First, your comparisson, more than apples to oranges is like oranges to watermelons. You have an entry level coaxial speaker which is the focal auditor series and then you have a budget friendly proper component speaker which is the jl audio C2 650. Most people compare the JL audio C1 to the focal auditor and the C2 to the Access. The thing here is that the Auditos is actually designed to be a factory speaker replacement (not so much an upgrade). It is designed to be powered directly by the head unit and it has a very cheap built in crossover. The next step in Focal is the Acces, which is a series designed to be powered by an amplifier, but will still work if you power it from the headunit. Now, that is exactly what the JL Audio C1 lineup is made for. An entry level, budget friendly speaker made to be powered by an amp, but capable of working with the HU power. So you are going 3 steps up from the focal auditor to the JL Audio C2.
And the second part. Frecuencies are not directional. What makes them directional is the speaker and its fisical characteristics playing frecuencies too high. In car audio it is bad, but the thing here is that you can play a 16k hz tone through a good 1" or .75" tweeter and it wont be directional, but you can also play it through a 1.5" tweeter or a 2" tweeter and it will be super directional just because the frecuency is too high and the speaker is too big. Same with sub-bass, bass, midbass, mids,...
@@mildaudiophile3879 nice, I will check them out. I recomend you to study the principle of line arrays to better understand how beaming works and why it happens. Basically it has to do wit the retion between the fisical size of the sinewave and the size of the speaker reproducing it. Sub-bass is impossible to beam out of any system (including huge arena concert systems) but the rest of it is very possible to archieve. Same with the extreme highs. Super trebbles are impossible to make omnidirectional, the rest can be worked out
I have been doing a bit of a research what could be better for me to install in the rear doors of my highlander. I already bought some coaxs 6x9 for the front doors and I'm not quite sur if should I get a 6.5 coax, a mid bass woofer or a component. I don't have a clear placements for the twitters in the rear doors so not sure if its actually possible. With this video I'm more inclined to components though, thanks for sharing 👍
Glad the video help. If you can afford and have the time definitely go component speakers. Any speaker has components and a coaxial set no matter what line it is. Well most all but the separation of sound is worth the little extra install time.
Hey bro i saw u have infinity perfects, jl etc which component would u recommend around 100-200 since u heard them im hoping u could help me with it. I want my bass to go untill 50 hz but have good presence of the bass not just flat sound and over all good imaging from the speakers crisp smooth highs not sharp and clear mids.
@@mildaudiophile3879 idk i have a pioneer 3003d4 sub which plays low around 25 hz now i want pleasing sounding mids and highs which has great clearity for the price and doesnt sound harsh on tweeters or mids even on high volumes. My system lacks 50-150 hz area the bass region my sub plays subbass well but not bass.
@@stanz1n594 sub is for 80hz and down midrange is 80hz and up. I play my kappas at 63hz 12db HPF and up so my midbass has more impact on the dash. I got a 3 way but it’s already $600 so out of your budget. I recommend looking at the focal auditor 2 way component. If you can afford a little more get a entry level morel 3 way component set. The kappa perfect are being discontinued and we’re the best bang for the buck. If you can find and fit them I highly recommend them. They sound really good even at high volumes. Good luck.
@@mildaudiophile3879 okay thx thats the problem with my sub it goes low but doesnt play very well beyond 50 hz. Im trying to cover those frequency well without turning my speakers high then the tweeters get harsh.
not a fan of JL c2 - you can do better on parts express or madisound - sb acoustics 60 dollar midranges would spank it. Parts express Dayton RS would be better
Can you install component speakers without amp? I got a deal on 2 sets of kicker css65 component speakers paired with a new joying 8 inch head unit 50 watts per ch... Do you think they'll sound good without a amp? 4 component speakers???
@@kedsification you can install buy they will not perform as they rated. Actually head unit's RMS are 18W / channel and your components usually rated 40 to 70 watts. Thayts why power amp will make real difference.
@@kedsification Of course you can and they will still sound good but if you want to get every little bit performance than you would need to install a amplifier. If you install the component speakers and you like how they sound and have no distortion at high volumes and are happy with how loud they are then there is no need for a amplifier if you get them and want them louder you would have to buy an amplifier that matches the wattage of the speakers. Let’s say that your speakers are rated at 65 Watts a pair then you would need a amplifier that does 65 watts or close to it. Remember you won’t burn up the speaker by giving it more power than it needs but you will burn it up if you don’t give it enough power, if that makes sense!
Seriously what the hell if ur going to do a comparison uv got to use the bloody same brand ..toy know apple for apple not pear ...this cant help those that dont know shit
I can’t really read you comment but it sounds like your upset. A component set will always sounds better then coaxial Same models regardless of brand. You more separation of sound and better staging plus you can active with a DSP. You need to do more research mate.
@@mildaudiophile3879 cool.upgrading my stock speakers for infinity reference 2way with aftermarket head unit kenwood dnr1007xr and stock amp,was looking at rocketfosgate component just don't know how will sound.any advice ?
@@elvio6723 I made my own 3 way with kicker Ks components 6x9 woofer 2-3/4 midrange and 1 tweeter all running passive. I bought the tundra tweeters to fit my tweeter and put the midrange in the dash. You want the tweeter and midrange to be close to each other for best sound. After you set your gain then set your eq and use loudness. This will make your speakers sound good even at low volumes. When you turn it up loudness goes away. Just play with and see what works. I also have jl stealthbox with 2 10s. I went with 6x9s bc the hit hard and give a good all around sound. Crutchfield Says they don’t fit but they with no problem.
So I have a question that I couldn’t find the answer to anywhere my car came with a tweeter and a speaker in both the front doors I am installing new speakers on my own but not replacing the tweeters, the new speakers I bought have tweeters built in just like the new ones in the vid, do I connect the new speakers normally just like the factory ones and do I disconnect the tweeters or keep them connected
Do you need a set of components or speakers which is the tweeters and the speaker only. You don’t need tweeters and a speaker with tweeters because then it’s gonna be super loud and you are not have a good front stage sound unless that’s what you want is loud then go for it
WOW talk about the worst comparison i have ever seen! Cheap junk speakers VS high end well duh one will be better! And separating the tweeter from the woofer just makes for some goofy off sounding music! Even JL Audio them selves know this! Henc why you can go to there site and look up there 6.5s and see they are designed to be coax or component. It just depends how you assemble it. Component for the ignorant that compare junk coax to high end component Coax for the people who like things to sound proper! If both are the same Coax wins hands down not having the goofy sound separation problem! Better yet there are videos on youtube of JL audio stating just that! just search > " JL Audio Dude says COAXES RULE! CONTROVERSIAL STUFF! " Just imagine talking to someone and hearing the lows of there voice coming from there knees and the highs coming from above there head lol
you have no idea what a Hi-end speaker is. I just bought a hi-fi italia 3-way set retailing over $1500. The c2 is a great speaker but definitely not there best speakers. You should'nt be on here giving people bad advice if you don't know what staging, DSP or TIA is. If components didn't have a purpose they wouldn't make them. Under your philosophy, we should just put coaxials everywhere.
A component sets your sound stage, as a coaxial is more of a rear fill ... so of course they not gonna compare. They are both sereve different purposes... duh.
