We love our Duvalays, they iron out the lumps in our Autotrail rear lounge double. Boy they can be challenging to change the covers in a confined space though 😆 well demonstrated, guys 👏

I got a Duvaly sleeping bag 3 months ago, im sure some may love it but I really didn't like it and thought it was a waste of money, the pillows are very good thou, I now have a quilt in a cover which is so much better but with so many other things its a case of each to their own...😁

have to agree, I find them not at all comfortable, my wife however loves hers.

Thank you for this idea, I just ordered a Duvalay , and I’m excited to try it. I like the idea that you can change the duvet. Thank you

Bob, My wife found this very interesting for ideas to suit single beds for our new Motorhome in April. Regarding the boiler under your bed, you can now get some insulating foil, cut to length to fit under your mattress. This should keep you cooler, I will remember to fit this under ours.

Yes a good idea. Might try that myself, although recently I've been glad of the extra heat!

Intersting concept. At least it keeps the duvet in place. We have the duveley mattress s with a topper which is great. Then on top is a quilt ie 2 single. But we both suffer from duvet walkabout. This looks like it solves that issue
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo 6 лет назад
John Waite yes, when we used in a double it's much better than the constant battle over the duvet!

Always wondered what a 'Duvalay' was... Just thought it was simply a mattress topper. Quite impressed..

They do look comfortable! Maybe we should try these out in our motorhome... although I do prefer a quilt normally so I can kick my legs around (much to my husband's joy I'm sure 🙄😂)

Wandering Bird Adventures they're not like sleeping bags - you can still move as one side is open.
@WanderingBird
@WanderingBird 6 лет назад
I did see that, but I think you folded it so the enclosed side was on the walkway side. I suppose I could always fold it the other way if I felt the need for more space. 👍

Wandering Bird Adventures I always have the open side facing out into the walkway.

Bob, with having the Bailey 69/2 we have to make the bed up every night which we don’t mind, the Duvalay system looks like you can just roll out and roll up, which I think will work in our motorhome. I noted you changed the duvets over was it a single folded over or a double, I believe we can buy the system with the mattress and sheet system without buying the full package, any advice would be welcome and do the sheet system wash ok the full system is around 250 or with out duvet is around 150 wondering what to purchase
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo Год назад
The duvets are standard single bed duvets. The covers wash very well. Best to check on the Duvalay website, we bought the thicker memory foam as well.

Thanks Bob, with having lots off single duvets winter and summer, we really only need to buy the sheet system and use our own duvets and buy the memory foam and possibly just cut to size if required thanks for getting back.😊

Hi Bob and Jenny, looking to order these for our van - would you mind me asking what width (they come in 58, 66 or 70cm) and what depth they are please. I'm looking at the Compact ones. Many thanks and keep up the great work!
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo 2 года назад
We recently bought the Compact width 58cm and the foam base is 2.5cm. However we are not very happy with the foam base as it keeps going bumpy in the middle and one has a crease we can’t get out. We think we had Comfort version when we made this video in 2018 which had a thicker foam base of 4cm and don’t remember the bumps and creases with that one.

As you can probably tell I'm catching up on some of your videos :-) We currently have a fixed transverse island bed but have struggled with the layout - so have on order an Elddis Majestic 275 (which you did a walk around at the NEC show). So we are back to making up single beds from the sofa. But as I'm 6' 1" I was never comfortable in the island bed. We have the original duralay toppers. Am I right in thinking that we could order a couple of Duvalay covers (which they sell as spares) - slot the original 66,cm toppers into them. Add a single duvet of appropriate tog (me 10 the wife 4 !!) from Dunelm or similar And then we have Duvalays ,!!?? Or am I missing something?? Thanks for your help. I guess at the moment you have your feet up in the sunshine enjoying chilled champagne ;-)

Sorry, wouldn't want to get they Duvalay answer wrong never tried that, best to ask Duvalay. I know the single bed duvays fit.

I've spoken to Duvalay today and the good news is that our original toppers (which we bought before the Duvalay was invented) are exactly the same as the current "Comfort' topper so we would only need to purchase new covers (and single duvets which we will get from Dunelm as they don't do the tog ratings we need)

They look very comfy. I see you have a longer motorhome and have been motorhoming for a number of years. We are going to get our first one later in the year. Currently torn between staying short (under 6.5m) for easy manouvering or a bit longer fomore comfort. Any advice on this? Do you find longer motorhomes more restrictive out and about?
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo 6 лет назад
Helen Sparks yes longer motorhomes are more restrictive, but with a bit of extra planning you can still take them to wonderful places. Much better in Europe and Scotland where there is more space. We started small and increased in size each upgrade. I think if you worry about the size of the motorhome, it's height and width that are more often the issue than the length.

as someone who likes the comfort of the room but likes to go to many destinations we couldn't make ourselves go to a 6m van but didnt want to go too big.Our first was a 7m motorhome with a great lounge and french bed ( bessacarr 560 ) we then changed to fixed twin beds over a garage so we had enough storage with a decent lounge still but this took us upto 7.41m which is ok but we wouldn't like to go any bigger - having said that as BOB said even a 6m motorhome is the same width and height as our 7,41 long long beast. Its more how and where your going to use it. Panel van Conversions are not for us AT THIS TIME but we would never dismiss them for people who find it suits their lifestyle. A recreational vehicle is how you use them more than what they are - think about what you want to do and then pick a size and type of unit that will fit that.

Thankyou. Yes we need to decide on what we will do most of. We have 2 girls who are 18 and 14 and both adult sized so can't go too small. The eldest won't want to come too often but I'm sure she will sometimes. We also have a very small dog (small cat sized). We will do plenty of weekend trips with longer holidays in France. We like the Dordogne and that's part of why we worry about going too big. However, want to be comfy stuck inside on wet weekends over here. We like the Benimars and the Swifts. Like some of the Chaussons too but they were not very Cozy feeling inside as no real soft furnishings.
