Tomato peel is really tough and takes a while to decompose, so if you're putting in tomatoes, make sure to cut them in half or even just make a little slice to the skin before throwing it in. The worms will always choose the easy stuff before spending their energy on eating through tomato peel, that's why you see whole tomatoes at the bottom of the container. 🍅🐛

I’ve noticed this! Same with the avocado peels and apple skins

This is good to know! I also just learnt that eggshells are hard to decompose unless you grind them into dust. Moral of the story, crush everything 😂

Potato bug = roly poly! Fun fact: they’re not bugs! They’re crustaceans related to lobsters and are the only crustacean that have acclimated to living solely on land. 🤯 They also eat their own poop! Yes, I just went down a rabbit hole on “potato bugs” thanks to your video. 😂

What a cool system!!!! OMG!!!! Little man sounds like he is going to be a pro vlogger!!! Mr. Jabber Jaws so stinking cute! What a pumpkin! So cool that you guys are doing these types of video's and showing that you can make things work by trial and error from what you have done previously. So what worm bucket is kind of the smaller version of tilling your land after you have harvested and before you lay down all the cow manure, before tilling again. My husbands family grows beans, tobacco and hay. And they rent out whatever they are not using. They did have chickens, ducks, horses. Now they have cows and some chickens. Nothing is better then eating meat that you know came from your land and had nothing gross or extra hormones and crap in it. Most people say there isn't a huge difference, I would have to say yes there is. The fresh stuff from our farms is so much better tasting.

You may still find some worms when you open the bottom hatch to pull out the dirt (castings). I just toss them back in the bin. The worm “tea” is excellent for your garden, just dilute it a bit….and expect that you may get the odd tomato plant growing there!

I buy worm castings from my local nursery and use them in my indoor plants! I always worry about over fertilizing with chemical fertilizers and burning my indoor plants. With worm castings I can just add them into my soil or throw some on top of the soil and water it into the plant roots. My plants love it!

Here in AZ where we are, (low elevation, Growing Zone 10b or something) the soil is kaliché (?) or rocky rocky sandy dry cement. After it rains it magically gets light and fluffy but that only lasts a day or two. I have to dig using a rock pick to dig out all the rocks, then every creature within miles wants to dust-bathe and dig because it’s a rare spot! All my trees need shields because the wild rabbits and chipmunks have a need to chew anything looking like food. Forget growing anything here without a cage around it. The quail are my flock, after years of feeding I have guests of 75 every night. So bottom line, worms would be eaten by 70 quail dove and other birds, and those who survive would dry up in the 115+ degree dry heat. But I could put them in my compost bin! Hmmm! ⭐️⭐️⭐️Baby sounds are golden! 💜😊😆

Zack: "SHEESHH" Cracks me up every time. Fish emulation is also a great natural fertilizer. Tip- always water your plants/trees before fertilizing as to not burn the roots. This isn't directed to anyone specifically, I just didn't know and thought there would also be others whom don't either. This was such a fun video to watch. I hope it's a successful worm farm. Oh, and pill bugs I call them rollie pollies. I know. I'm southern so idek why we call them that, but have since I was a small child. Hope everyone is having a great day/night. The liquid out the worm compost is called worm leachate. The microorganisms in the leachate is not safe because it hasn't been through the gut of the worms. I use this on my flowers and trees that I don't eat from because it. Now worm tea is from soaking the compost or steeping it over night. I use a pair of knee high pantyhose to put some worm casting in it and then tie a knot, then steep in in a 5 gallon bucket of water. I hope this helps some. :)
