stuff the inside with thermal pads around the heat spreader block to the case bottom and it will not thermal throttle. slightly less recommended if you do alot of mobile computing with the macbook on your lap as it does increase surface temps.

I have the same laptop as you (air, early 2020 and 16 gb ram), but don’t know if I should upgrade. Do you like the new one?

I've only been using the new one for a few days, but it's really impressive. I suppose it depends on what you do, and your thoughts on the fan in the previous model. I definitely don't miss having my laptop sound like a jet engine sitting next to me when I'm just watching a RU-vid video, lol.

Make sure sir don't fill your SSD space. That process will increase the life of SSD. USE external hard for data

With the newer Mac devices, I've started storing all my FCPx libraries on an external SSD, and my long-term file storage on a larger external drive, so I try to keep my internal storage pretty clean, just whatever's in my "Downloads" folder, for the most part.

I know my wife´s Macbook Air is a bit old (late 2013 model, if I remember well) to trade-in but maybe consider to sell online and use some of the money to upgrade her to an M1 version.

2013 to the new M1 would probably be an absolutely massive upgrade! Looks like several places outside of Apple have the Air on sale for $899 right now, too.

That’s what happened to me as soon I get my first MacBook Air 2020 Apple released the new mchips a few days later but I am going to get the new iMac I thinking pink color because close to red color or the green color to match my iPhone 11 Pro Max midnight green but I like the orange color to

I rotated desktops around when I picked up the Mac Mini, so my wife is using the 2017 27" iMac now. Really tempted to switch her to the Mini and trade the 27" iMac toward one of the new 24" iMacs... but it would still be M1 to M1, so no real upgrade for me. I kinda love that there are so many color options, just one more piece of personalization that hasn't been available for a really long time.

So, from what I have read, the way the M1 handles the RAM (SoC) 8GB would be roughly the same as having 16GB with an Intel x86 chip. Does that sound correct? These machines do look like they're really amazing. I might hold off for a year or two once they have better external monitor support (I use 3) and the tooling / language support for coding is ironed out.

I've heard the same thing, and yeah, my Mac Mini with 8Gb performs surprisingly well. I regularly keep 30-40 tabs open in Chrome as well as FCPx with no real issues. I've seen it slow down once or twice while editing multiple 4k video streams in FCP, but only when i have a TON of Chrome tabs open.
