Great video. Years ago I made the HUGE mistake of upgrading to Win 7 from Vista, without doing anything to clean up the process, as you have done and my computer ran like a piece of junk, till a clean install of 8.

The update/upgrade time is also dependent on your cpu. If it is an older one, it can take a while to install files, unpack files, etc. What is needs to do before it will continue. If your pc/laptop has to cache files on a drive during installation that can also add to the time involved.

Really a very good tutorial on upgrading from w7 to w10, but has anyone experience on what happens with already installed programs like Office 2010 or AutoCad 2010, or Cadence Orcad 16.0, or any other previously installed programs on w7?.

In my experience I would also sweep for Malware using ADW Cleaner prior to upgrade.

So if I am upgrading from W 7 Ultimate, will it ask if I want W 10 Pro? I noticed it didn't show the window where you can choose which version of Windows you would like to install... I have a W. 10 Pro license, will I need to do the full installation by booting from my W. 10 Pro USB drive? And I don't remember if I can choose to keep my apps & settings if I go that route.... UPDATE: I just read that the upgrades are to same version as original...

Can be a pain, but a fresh install can be the best option. Then you will not have any old programs that you not have not used in a long time or might not use anymore, a clean registry just for starters. You will have to make sure you have your files that you need/want backed up first, have the installation files and such for the programs. And remember the passwords needed for sites, etc. Up to the person. Each way has its plusses and minuses.

Do you find uninstalling the old previous printer drivers plus the latest current printer helpful ? Plus unplug the unit . Then reinstall the W10 version of your printer driver off their site once upgraded ? Another thing I once lost wireless KB + Mouse on a xp/vista update , is it cautious to have those plugged in and with cord models >?

i have built half a dozen dirt cheap pc's lately, i have a house full of the sodding things, mostly I add ram and an ssd and sell them cheap on facebook. I have found that if \i install a version of win 8.1 pre activated (which I got from a reputable buccaneer affiliated website) then upgrade to win 10 before i connect to internet, well it works.

a good option is bitdefender Free. once its installed windows defender sets it as the default. i've been using bitdefender for so long i would love to work for them at this point

I agree with you regarding win defender some people recommend malwearbites also, as defender has a pup scanner I wonder is mwb necessary I am referring to the free version of mwb and defender does not enable pups enable by default however there is a setting to enable it. thank you for your excellent channel

about windows defender it came like MSE they both try to remove viruses from the files and folder before going to the delete option, so when it came to *.exe files it's very important to keep the files and not deleting them if it's a system file, and this none an option of any other third party antiviruses, especially avira it delete everything on your hard drive if you activate aggressive mood, 🤣.

I wish to download Windows 10 on my Windows 7 computer and I followed your great advice but I had a problem running the download tool software. I received a message telling me that there was a problem with start up and to restart my PC and try to download the tool again. I did this many times but could not get beyond that message which always came back. Could anyone please explain what’s happening and offer any advice on how to overcome this obstacle.

After any major OS upgrades one should run disk cleanup first to get rid of any useless files, including that rather large Windows.old folder. There is no point in defragging useless files.

Then after all that, you wipe everything & reinstall clean because your Core i7 laptop blue screens every 5 to 10 minutes .. Then the clean install does the same .. So you have to try to troubleshoot, for ages ... *On the cusp of writing the old Windows 7 image back to the drive* Unsupported but functional beats unusable.

I'm confused. Did I miss something? You speak in other videos about reasons not to do an in-line update, yet this is a video for an in-line update. You reference another video in this video where you do a clean install over win7 but I can't find that. You have a video about doing a clean Win10 install with a clean drive but not one with win7 on already on the drive. I want to do a win7 to win10 upgrade with a clean WIN10 install. Where is that video? You said you have or will make one - there isn't, that I could find. Maybe if you reference other videos in your video, you could provide a link in the description? That makes it a little easier rather than weeding through all your vids trying to figure out what you need by title. The more content you create, the more you need to reference others with links. Most of the backlash I heard from that free windows 10 update was how sleazy Microsoft was on trying to force people onto Windows ....

Defragging before deleting old folder is not logical

Don't you mean down grading to windows 10? Windows 10 is nothing but problems. Are you ready for your system to break Everytime Microsoft forced updates occur?

Free upgrade has ended at December 31, 2017. Upgrading after that date is illegal. Not saying that you cant, but im saying, if a inspector comes to inspect if software that you are using are legal, and you made a upgrade after that date, and that inspector is cooperating with MS, you are probably screwed, cause they know exact date you upgraded it and when the digital license was issued. Doubt that anyone gonna inspect you as a private person, but MS might pull that trick, if they dont fancy a company or want to make hard time for company or see massive pirating at one location.

Windows 10 is the biggest pile of shit ever foisted upon computer users ,have to spend more time fixing problems than working ,time to instal! Linux !!

It may not be as bad as 8, but 10 is still pretty bad. 7 still stands far above the two. I don't see why anyone would want to "upgrade"(Downgrade) to a buggier and far less user friendly interface.
