Field guns almost always have safe-on-break systems. This is a wise thing for a shotgun you'll be walking around with. Sporting shotguns often don't, because you're basically static on a clay field.

I want something for shooting clays that's not Turkish. Had a Stevens 512 Gold Wind and it didn't hold up at all. Recommendations? I'm willing to spend Citori - Cynergy money if necessary.

No matter what over under you get or side-by-side in the field you only get two shots; for the same price you can buy a semi auto are you kidding me? Why would anybody spend money on a hunting trip and only have two shots in the field consider that. A pump, semi auto is the only way to go.

Some of us are proficient enough with shotguns that two shots are adequate.

most state game and fish only allow a maximum of three shots in the tube when Hunting Upland game birds. You would have to put a plug in that autoloader to lesson your load to three shots.

Most places have a two in tube one in chamber maximum so it’s really not that dumb at all

weight, ease of cleaning, two barrels give you two chokes to work with, upland and duck only let you have 3 in your auto, odds of getting more than one let alone 3 on grouse and woodcock is slim, no proving to game warden you have your auto plugged to hold only 3

Basically, I agree with everyone else. With an O/U or SxS, you have 2 choke options. Typically, you’d go with IC/Mod chokes. One for close up, and one for farther out. Most O/U or SxS will allow you to fire whichever barrel you desire. With a pump or auto loader, while they can be a bit more versatile in some cases, you are stuck with whatever choke you have installed, and most states have a 3 shell limit in the chamber and tube combined. So you basically get one less shot, but more versatile choke options.
