Thank you for sharing these videos! I hope you will consider doing more strength training. There’s a lot of people w/ scoliosis who struggle to get back into shape and often times, b/c we don’t know the proper form/ movements our backs tend to suffer even more… Much appreciated! ❤

@@TSCConnectThanks for your reply! I have tried and love all of the exercise videos you’ve shared, but I esp love the dumbbell workouts and the TRX/ suspension trainer workout. Your videos encouraged me to purchase a Schroth Bar, which is one of the best purchases / decisions I’ve ever made. Because there are no Schroth therapists or clinics available where I live, your videos are invaluable! ❤ Thank you!!

This is a great workout! I do strength workouts using the Peloton app, but this is so much better because proper spine alignment is reinforced throughout the exercises and makes my back feel so much better when I'm done. Thank you!

Do you know why my lower part of my shoulder blade feel sore after doing the dumbbell rowing? I tried to follow your instructions and prasticed it in front of the mirror. Is it normal to feel sore ? And do I need to pull my elbows to the sky as high as I can ?
@TSCConnect
@TSCConnect 2 месяца назад
It's difficult to assess why your shoulder feels sore over RU-vid, without doing an individual assessment. Soreness can mean different things so we suggest getting an assessment by a medical professional. You don't need to pull your elbows too high, only as high as you feel comfortable.

Is rowing machine safe for scoliosis
@TSCConnect
@TSCConnect 2 месяца назад
In general the rowing machine keeps your spine in neutral because there isn't any twisting, however you want to make sure to try not to round your back too much (from the sideview) at the start of each pull. It requires lots of hip range of motion into flexion

Our whole channel is created with exercises that are friendly for people with scoliosis. They are not meant for treatment, as typically you would require 3-dimensional scoliosis-specific exercises such as the Schroth Method. So these workouts are meant to be fitness-based workouts made from movements that don't involve bending or twisting of the spine.

@TSCConnect

Fat loss is highly dependent on many factors like diet, sleep, genetics, hormones, etc. We don't focus on fat loss on our channel, instead we want to offer workouts that will help you integrate more movement into your week and stay strong to support your spine.

I have severe scoliosis. I recently joined an association where it specified that a participant in weight lifting exercise programmes should lift no more than one pound i.e. half a pound in each hand. I notice that you demonstrate using five pound dumbbells. Is this really leading by example even though you have stated that viewers should seek professional/medical advice.
@TSCConnect
@TSCConnect 7 месяцев назад
There are many, many people with scoliosis who lift heavy weights and do high performance sports, and in fact weightlifting (with conscious attention on your alignment, which muscles you're activating, breathing patterns) can be really helpful to support your spine. We are not aware of any restriction of 1 pound, especially because most activities in life (lifting groceries, laundry, children, lugguge etc) are much more than 1 pound, so we want to encourage people to be strong to navigate the demands of life.

@@TSCConnect I have done weight training my whole life starting at the age of 28 using 5 lbs weight. I am now 67 with cauda equina and triple scoliosis. If you are telling me that weight training is good for this condition, then please tell why I land up like this. I live in a city where driving around is difficult so I used to walk to the grocery stores to shop. Subsequently I carried my shopping bags home. I did this for five years and during this time the compression between my L3 and L4 became so severe I could no longer walk. All because of this habit. In summary I lost the use of my legs and had to have an emergency op to prevent landing in a wheelchair for life. So yes, advocate weight training for those who are silly enough to pursue this. I much prefer the idea of stretching exercises and using therabands. Bands can be quite effective in assisting an older person with strength training.

It's impossible for us to make RU-vid videos to provide suggestions for situations as specific as yours. Your first comment gave no indication of your individualized needs, so our reply did address your general question of weightlifting allowances for people with scoliosis, which is indeed fine for MOST people (not all). In any case where people experience symptoms, especially neurological ones, we recommend you find a healthcare professional who can assess, treat, and guide your situation-specific needs.
@Sally-W-c9o

@@TSCConnect I am not asking you for any advice. I am being looked after by a top class physiotherapist as well as a specialist. However what I am telling you is the result of weight training with 5 lb weights and over the years it went down to 3 lbs and now 1 lb and I cannot do anything more because it is too heavy. It is a well known fact that weight training is not good for scoliosis. I think you should keep that in mind. when you make your next video.

Weight training is actually very important for scoliosis, as muscular strength is important to support the bony structures of the spine. We encourage people to progress their weights in a responsible way with proper alignment for their curve, to allow those muscle fibers to develop that strength.
