Once upon a time work paid and earned respect. Every job pays half what it did 40 years ago but the people at the top make ten times more. There’s no point working a full time job and living homeless in order to make your boss rich. They now have shortages of restaurant workers shortages of construction workers shortages of truck drivers but it’s really just a shortage of people willing to work for insultingly low pay while business profits go through the roof. These rich people now have so much money they pour it into schools and real estate where a normal working family can’t afford a home to live in or to go to college. We work for a paycheck and for respect. Take away the respect and pay and tell me what is the reason to go to work? A lot of jobs owning a car cost more than what the job pays. A taxi to and from work is more than they pay you. I’m not going to lose money to make someone else rich. I’d rather start my own business grow my own vegetables sell drugs go on welfare literally anything other than work for free

I’ve worked overtime hours, when available, for 35 years. The best raise I could ever hope for was 3%. During bad times we went 3 years without any raises, even tho the bad times ended 6 months after the contract was ratified and business was booming again. We have to trade our time/lives working 56 hours a week to maintain against normal inflation. Yet the company makes huge profits. I think we’re suckers that were told our whole lives that hard work pays off. Of course we were told this by a system that was literally put in place to produce worker bees when the industrial age began. Show up to school/work every day and try your hardest to get the job done. I think that we are all cattle being processed for the benefit of those in charge. Elon Must said.. Never work for someone else because you will only be a cost to them and costs must be kept down. That’s the truth of it all.

I disagree. The first job I ever worked I worked 70 to 80 hours a week for a year and a half. And I absolutely hated it. It actually made me realize how much more productive I was when I had more time to focus on my goals and not just work all day. I also come from a family of entrepreneurs that run their own fencing business and every summer as a child I would go down to their shop and work. This still doesn't change the fact that I absolutely hate working my life away at a job that is meaningless to me. I'm a trump supporter too and have been for a decade. But I disagree.

Bernie wants to work 4 and remain at 32 hours with the same pay. Meaning companies that run 7 days a week would have to hire more people at the same rates to work the other 3 part time. So nearly twice the payroll, That would prob bankrupt some smaller companies or it will be trickled down to the consumer by way of price increases. Don't we have enough price increases right now? Even cheap food like Ramen has doubled in price in the last 3 years.

Exactly. What Bernie is advocating is a 25% raise for all full time employees. Employers will either fire full time employees and replace them with part time workers, hire additional employees and raise prices, or go out of business. So, either people lose jobs and benefits, prices skyrocket even further, or businesses go bankrupt. There is no upside to such a proposal.

Mike Rowe. What a blue-collar hero. He comes out against four-year degrees and calls them a scam, while he, himself, has a four-year communications degree and never worked a blue-collar job in his life. Perhaps he should do another video complaining about excessive SAFETY, of all things, in the workplace. I say "another," of course, because he's already done one. But that's Mike Rowe--always looking out for working men and women, right? We certainly can't allow something like worker safety to impact corporate profits. Sure, they're making billions, but it's the principle, right? And, besides, as everyone (Well, "everyone" meaning Mike Rowe) knows, every second spent keeping workers from losing lives and limbs increases the price of consumer goods. Can't have that. Now, naturally, he's not eager for people to get hurt or killed. He's just saying, "Sure, sure--try not to get hurt, but...could you hurry it up a bit, pal? The clock is ticking."

Namely, I spent years in the 80's building military equipment that made things like grenade body loaders for cluster bombs and equipment to make tank mines. I assure you, the military being an image of the general public, there is not enough integrity, talent or skills backed by a solid work ethic and manufacturing infrastructure in the private sector to equip the military on short or long notice.

You let anyone suggest retirement age be raised from 65 and you will hear a loud noise through out the land. Most people work looking forward to retirement, not working. The fact of life is we work to have the money for a somewhat comfortable retirement. Some people just ignore the inevitable and pay dearly for it later on. Most people would opt not to work if they didn't have to. Mike Rowe has made a living off show casing jobs that are not especially wanted by most people or many people don't have the skills, however they must be done. As they say, somebody has to do it. I am grateful we have skilled workers to do the things that are needed in order to live our lives. Mike Rowe doesn't work a 40 hour work week year round, probably hasn't ever, or it was long ago. It's great to sit back and be a critic when you have a very good life. There are people who do enjoy their work would do it until they could no longer physically, however most people don't feel that way. How unaware you are! The people who create a job for you are the people who love working, you are just another person working until retirement. What have you done to create jobs? Sound off all you want, someone created a job for you in order you could retire. Be grateful to the people who gave you the opportunity to work and save for retirement.

When I graduated high school in the mid '80's I didn't want anything to do with manual labor jobs, my impression was that they paid very little, you worked very hard and worked long hours, including weekends. I also took shop class and got good grades, that didn't change my opinion, it only reinforced that I didn't like that kind of work. Even to this day, I hate carpentry. My ideal career was working in a clean, cool office cubicle in a job that paid very well. I then met a new friend whose father was a computer programmer and that was right up my alley and what I have done ever since. My point to all this is, there is nothing wrong with trade jobs but you still have to have the aptitude for it in order to be successful, it's not for everyone and certainly wasn't for me.

Conversely, plenty of folks w/ 4yr degree dont know how to do their white collar job, some dont even know 'how to work'; need to spend a few years working at something hot, dirty, back aching that would help them learn to use their brain, help them learn how the numbers and words on the screen relate to the real world.

Well Mr. Rowe, you are wrong for various reasons. But I will tell you my side. I work for Amazon on a flexible schedule I use to work for a 10 hour full time shift with them until I had to go to Flex after my father's stroke. Now because of the sluggish economy, Amazon to save their greedy hide instilled delivery fees which drove the customers away. Thus resulting in low volume of orders since. Mr. Rowe I want to work, but my employer only uses me if they need the help so I am lucky if I can get a shift a week now. And yes I had been looking for work elsewhere no other warehouse wants me. So when I heard of Senator Sanders plan. Yes we should do it. It's been proven to work in Europe. And that would free up more shifts for me.

For me an average work hour week is 70 hours and it’s not uncommon to work 80+ hours which I do a lot of. It’s a bad week if I have only 60 hours. I find this to be an absolute joke about 32 hour work week. So if this happens what do businesses do. America isn’t gonna build itself or wait Biden Administration doesn’t want American made products. He would rather ship everything in from China to keep inflation sky high. I know this is Bernie Sanders’s idea but wouldn’t surprised me though if Biden signs it. My job is as blue collard as it gets, I work on cargo ships delivering iron ore, stone, coal and salt all over the Great Lakes to places like Ford plants, and many more. I work for USW Union local 5000. This won’t change the hours I work regardless. Yes my job is mentally tough and it definitely can be physically at times.

I know there's more I can't remember... Lol that kid had the Gorbachev scar on his neck from 9th grade on😢 but 😂 Oh and that girl walked up to his desk so patiently for someone just lit on fire and even waited for him to be annoyed for standing there and asking "What Delyla" then he went into a rage...😂😂😂 It was south park levels I swear

"We have to have roads, because we have to have jobs, because we have to pay taxes, because we have to have roads, because..." Money is a device designed specifically to limit access to energy. Capitalism values Scarcity which commands Destruction. The more one Destroys, the more Scarcity one creates, the Higher Premium one can charge, thereby creating an Abundance of Capital in one's - personal - bank account. ~ By this, Capitalists rationalize that Scarcity creates Abundance. Capitalism is just an Ideology of Abstractions and False Equivalencies. In the past, the Bank, the State and the Church were one in the same, but today we commit to the act that these superficially disparate entities are in fact separate. Statism, which is founded on Ad Baculum - is - Collectivism. Through taxation - extortion - you are forced to engage capitalism. The Primitive, on average, only spends 21 hours a week meeting his needs. Modernites spend easily 2-3x this depending on real estate, inflation, taxation, wages and job availability. Only the Alienated want jobs. You can't start a fire, forage, build a house, but you want to show off how grown up you are by performing meaningless, repetitive tasks.
