My client presented this palette to me, and I could not be more impressed. I have been using UD products since they first became a brand. I remember the pocket palettes, the crayon lippies, etc. This new formula is a dream to work with; barely touching the shadow with my Hakuhodo brushes yields plenty of product. No primer is needed, and when I dampen the brush- wow! The shadows glow with multi-dimesional light. Everything about the palette is aesthetically pleasing to me, as well. I love the smoky glass look of the plastic- so 70's ! I think this is a fine addition to my collection. Thanks, Maureen!
The biggest reason why I want the Smoky palette is because I have very cool toned skin, and when I've swatched the other naked palettes, even the Naked 2 which is the most cool toned out of the first 3, it still didn't work for my skin tone. I have a strong feeling this would be the most practical Naked palette for my skintone, but I truly appreciate your review! You did a wonderful job. I don't think anyone else I have seen do the review did a live swatch so I really appreciate the demonstration on exactly how each applied on an individual basis. Thank you =)
My Heart Self Made I got it Friday and it's perfect for me - I got rid of the original Naked, kept Naked 2 use it some...had Naked 3 and got rid of it also....never had an interest in Naked Basics but did get Basics 2 and use it now and then - this new Smoked one I am really loving!! I too have cool toned skin and I have blue eyes and cool blonde/white hair, was ashen blonde when younger. This is definately a good pallette for our coloring.
So I now have the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, and I am in love. Even the warmer-toned shades in the palette, like Dirtysweet, are so lovely on the eyes, I will use it. (if my grandma doesn't try and hit pan on it first- who has a much warmer skin tone than mine) Also, I must admit this is my first High-end palette. I have only swatched the Naked 2, and after finding the beauty in Dirtysweet, I'm reconsidering what I might be able to pull off on the lid instead of just on the back of my hand. I might just be in my honeymoon phase right now. We will see!!!
I have Naked 2 - there are only 3 colors in it I would really use and I never reach for it - I bought it for myself around Christmas and can count on one hand the times I've used it....I hate it sits unused in my drawer....
I like that "armor" actually looks like the color of a suit of armor... neato! I really like the colors in this palette. If it was cheaper I would buy it, but I don't think any makeup is worth $50+ (unless it's a big set of stuff). Thank you for the review! :D
I agree with your thoughts, as usual. I haven't swatched or used this palette yet, but I am not jumping through hoops/overly excited to get it since I already have a lot of these colors in different palettes, and I'm not an UD junkie myself. I like them, but I wouldn't spend the $$ on it personally. The packaging is a step up which is great. Thanks for the swatches and your thoughts on it.
Thank you for this review & swatches, I was so eager to see this, I am not so sure I want it now, it's kinda meh....pity. I loved 1 & 2, 3 was disappointing. I would have loved to see a more warm earth toned palette with red Browns like Mac Saddle or ABH Sienna, those are the colours I find myself looking for right now. Great review though 💟
After Naked 2 and hearing about an upcoming Naked 3 I was over it. Not to mention all the naked basics too. What next UD? Naked baked shadows? Naked purples? Maybe I should stop giving them ideas lol. I must say this packaging is stunning and works well with the smokey theme.
Very honest review! I don't own any naked pAlette by UD the only palette I have is there's SMOKED palette which they release back in 2013 but I'm willing to get naked 2.
I think I'm really over Naked palettes and the quality with this one seems really underwhelming too. There are so many amazing eyeshadow palettes, even drugstore which are more appealing. Thank you for a great swatch video as always.
I personally will be buying this! I think it all depends on personal preference, as ive light cool skin i love these shades :) i think at least one of their palettes works for someone.
I feel like after the first 2 naked palettes, the quality has gone down. some shades are good while some are bad, whereas in the first 2 all of the shades were great.
When I look at this palatte, am I the only one that just doesn't feel inspired?? This is why I don't want to buy it. I mean if it was way cheaper, like $25-$30, maybe, but $54 isn't worth the quality and color selection. Also, I feel like a lot of the colors aren't that unique. LOVE the second shade though!
It was my first naked palette. I like it. I don't use it all the time. But glad I got it. Would be nice if the price was less. I got it for a bday present and wanted to try something different.
Urban Decay has officially run out of ideas and is just slapping "Naked" on things to get the hype train rolling again and lemmings into Sephora tbh. I mean how many neutral shades can you really make palettes out of? It's ridiculous and no way is this worth $54. Basic shades we've seen a million times and the quality isn't even there. I have 1 and 3 and that's really all that's necessary for me.
This palette looks great, but Im not so sure about the brush. Synthetic brushes are my least favourite brushes for eyeshadow as they do not pick up and put down enough color. By the 4th naked palette, you would expect them to change it by now..
sigh. i really want this because smoky eyes are my go-to look for evenings and dates, and I can do alot of things wit this color selection, but 54 is a too steep of a price :( I might just end up putting the 26 dollars more and getting a Viseart palette since those seem to be the mattes to end all mattes lol.
***** what do you mean no one can purchase them? Do you mean you've never done a swatch video of a limited edition collection where everything is sold out?
alager27 thats true, I understand, it was crazy! I don't even know how I was able to order some of them, but yeah is getting worst with mac, they spend months advertising their collections to finally not be able to deliver enough product :(, I guess they will repromote some shades in future collections?, luckily (?) for me since I live in Mexico, mac releases their collections one or two months after they do it in the states, so thats why I was asking about a review, maybe this is an option for anyone wanting to buy something else from this collection?, you could still do it when they release it here in Mexico or other country maybe, anyway thanks for answering, I completely get your reasons for not making a review on Giambattista collection, XOXO
I can pass on this one. I have Naked, Naked 2, and Naked 3 and it honestly just looks like they just took four shades from each palette and put them all in one. Doesn't excite me. Wet n Wild Don't Steal My Thunder is my absolute favorite for creating a smokey eye!!!!
I don't think this palette is a must have. I mean $54 for a smokey look? I think I can do just as much smokey with drugstore brands, for example Wet n Wild has good pigmented eyeshadows...
I'm soooo not pleased with this palette. I really liked the concept of their previous "Smoked" palette because it had interesting colorful smoky shades that set it apart from the dark shades you get in every neutral palette ever. This is just all the dark shades you get over and over in neutral palettes tossed into one palette, in my opinion. Not a fan. I wish they had released something more interesting for summertime.
