Mid-rise residential and office buildings would make this so much easier.

We need a medium-density office building

Sprinkling in the height change can also add to the realism. Like in real-life cities, there is sometimes an odd high rise that stands out in a medium-density area. Or a set of townhouses in your downtown core protected by "heritage bylaws".

I liked to use the "high rise ban" back in CS1 to both smooth the transition and keep from having a giant sea of tall buildings. Would love to see this functionality some day is CS2, especially at the time when mod assets can be created / used. Good things in store for CS2!

Those 'mid' density residential towers are absolutely massive. 3-7 stories would've made way more sense.. Almost every city in the world would class them as very high density. It means that you only need a tiny town of 10,000 people before the city can start to look like Manhattan. I guess it will keep the children happy.

Constraints do indeed foster creativity. Currently in CS, you can essentially paint the all map as you please. You're discussing the idea of breaking away from the grid, but there are no constraints driving the player to do so. Soft or unstable ground, impassable cliffs, marshes, ancient forests, beaches, and wildlife protection areas could address this need.

This is why we need so many more assets.

I use the policy of urban growth boundaries, where I seek to fill the downtown side boundary area with high (med or high density) buildings and suburbs outside of it. This helps keep the city from spreading out too much. This is done in some cities for the same reason. For coastlines, I have some smaller buildings giving way to taller and taller buildings within a block. But I use medium density a lot compared to high density buildings so I have tall towers sprinkled about with many medium height apartments. I do use tall office buildings for a more impressive sightline.

Instead of dealing with such explanations, please focus on the tools that will allow us to build on curved corners. It is still not possible to build buildings suitable for curved corners such as ovals and triangles. Even though we are in 2024, we cannot do this either. We have been building square cities since the 90s. For this, you can integrate modes such as "RICO" into the game. You should give us more architecture, more animation tools that will make the city feel alive. Also, much more animation is needed to make the city feel alive.

when are assets going to be released... its very boring having the exact same buildings for literal monthsss

My game is broken for a couple of weeks. The major symptom is when I place an asset, it does not render. I've removed all of the Mods folders I could find (I heard that solved the problem for some folks), didn't seem to work for me.

Would love to try this out. If I could play the game on my PS5...

Good tutorial! I love this game since its beginning in CS1 and I really would love seeing CS2 thrive, so, please, fix the bugs! Specially the ones related to the Land Value, for example: the complains about High Rent, it doesn’t matter what I do, it never gets solved, or release a tutorial about this. 😢

After that much-needed apology, the recent improvements and that 'DLC' turned into a 'patch addition' kind of thing, I'm starting to get a little more positive about the development of the game. Also, the mods additions really helped a lot on raising my enjoyment of the game

How do I get to upgrade high density residential? They're always stuck at lvl 1 due to small apartments the lowest I got it at was -1 but it always increases to more which is freaking frustrating

The saddest part of the game is being consumers of content now, instead of playing along. I would need a super rig to play along and try some of the features and advice.

I wish they'd finish making the game actually playable. Videos like this make me want to get back into it, but it's just so...problematic still.

Kinda hard to do all this when the demand system is broken. Its nice to think i could implement this technique of building, but once my game starts, the demand system is all over the place.

Did they fix the simulation yet? Last time I played, traffic and public transit had no influence on each other, and my income randomly went from giving me infinite money to bankrupting me in a matter of a minute. Also the zoning + land value system is really weird, makes the game unnecessarily complicated.

My game crashes at 100k people. I have a 3090.

Paradox should just make it a city painter. Remove the economy, supply chain, and education all together because they don't work and/or have no meaning. The game forces you to build high density and then basically stops low or medium density from being sustainable, stu8pid sustainability meter. All the sims are renters. In this game, renters pay taxes. Meanwhile in the real-world owners/landlords pay taxes not renters. Wealth Highly educated sims complain about rent constantly or how small their domicile is. Even if you have low-income housing available sims still move into a home they hate and then complain about it. The logic is backwards. I could continue but I won't. I know everyone has heard enough. Wooosah.!!!

Please provid more assets. This is just too weak to build with.
