The hardwood floors, the Italian blue marble that was used on the fireplaces, and most other furnishings were removed by the owner after the fire in the upper par of the castle. The railing on the fireplace in the main entrance has been destroyed by the elements and vandals. The count who owns the place says that for $20 million he will give temporary ownership and he didn't specify for how long.

wow.. that place is unbelievable! i got the chills looking at it. i just can't understand how a lace like that can just be left! doesn't someone own it? what a shame! i thought the music was perfect for this place. it was electric!

I wonder how much that would cost to restore it . And if they opened it up to the public , how much profit they could make . It is such a shame it's rotting away. But does look very remote and spooky .

Btw, The local town has offered several times to take over the castle to restore it, But the family who owns the castle just wouldnt let them..

There are hundreds of abandoned castles, chateaus and mansions in France. Restoring them is incredibly expensive, and is usually hampered by regulations on who can restore them and how. Restoring this would probably cost over 10 million euro easily.

I wish all the best to those who would like to restore it. It would be a shame to let it rot.

These old buildings are so beautifull, the family that owns it are total idots why would you not sell it if you weren't going to use/restore it yourself. Keep up the good work with these videos. Greg (Australia)

@mo1971fordcrew The spiral stair up the tower was made from marble: but that is stolen (yes I've climbed the tower... pant's still yellow ;))
