Comparing 70's urethane with re-issue wheels using blue Kryptonics, riding a Sims Phase 3 Composite with Sims Snakes for the first time since 1981 and long boarding the legendary 70's second generation red Kryptonics. Filmed in Cramlington & Ponteland in the north east of England.

Wow 😲 I loved this. I'm 56 now and looking for a nice long board with some sexy urethane wheels, which is how I found this. Thanks for the nostalgia and brilliant filming and tunes etc.

I had A-series 70mm 82A blues on my 29" G&S Fibreflex slalom board with original Gullwing 6.5" trucks and had 70mm 78A reds on my 30"x10" Alva fishtail board with Tracker trucks and yellow urethane bushings (new at the time). Also had white 65mm 85A Yoyos and yellow 62mm 82A Alvas as spares at the same time. I also rode the blue and green B-series and the red C-series. Now I have a 30.5"x10.5" Rip'N'Dip Nerm Cruiser board with 7" Osprey RKP trucks and mixed Venom bushings with Zealous bearings and ... 60mm red re-issues 78A 65mm red re-issues 78A 70mm blue re-issues 82A 75mm red re-issues 78A 65mm red B-series (worn down to nearly 60mm) 78A - from eBay, an absolute steal at half the price of the 60/65mm re-issues above 85mm Seismic Speed Vent Defcon Bubblegum 77A ... and the absolute best of the best, having ridden all of the above ... 75mm YELLOW re-issues 76A (yes, A-series Kryptonics were available in yellow and orange so yellow is a re-issue) The new blues are good. Better than my A-series blues. The reds? About the same as the B-series but the new ones are more damage resistant and 75mm, not 70mm, is better. The 85mm Seismic Speed Vent Defcon 77As are only a FRACTION faster and smoother than the 75mm reds BUT they took more damage in 2 weeks than the reds took in a year on the same terrain/routes. Then there's the yellows? OMFG! Faster and smoother than the 75mm reds. Faster and smoother than the 85mm Seismic Speed Vents. Grip? Excellent. The best wheels I have ever ridden. However, the orange and pink re-issues are elusive. They might be better than the yellows ... but I doubt it.

Great Video loved it. Your absolutely right the old school soft urethane wheels are such a smooth ride. I still have my deck from the 80,s with green sims snakes.

My favorite board from that era was a Logan Earth Ski, with Trackers, and OJ wheels.

Skating from 1976 to 79. Red kryps in the street were unsurpassed, they'd roll over anything. Green kryps for the wooden pipe. Then I got some Belair Wings and in the pipe they were on another level again. But there were so many great wheels that mates had as well back then, Powerflex, Belair Lipbombs, Bones, Alvas. Good video.

I rode everything from 76-80, OJ's, Sims Comp and Comp II, Road Riders, but nothing beat the red Kryptonics. I still have them on an Alva board with Mid Tracks.

The original green Snakes are my all-time favorites. Had red Kryptonics on an Alva circa 85 that worked well too. Hard to find a nice set these days.

Wow what a great video. Took me back to like, 1980. I would have been 14 and I remember when my local sports shop (Cardiff Sportsgear) used to get a new delivery of wheels and trucks in they would make this huge window display up, and the kids would skate from miles around just to lick the windows. Really enjoyed this Mark. Thanks pal.

The reissues have a plastic core. The original used washers as a bearing seat, at least my 70 mm greens do

Nice. I am currently rebuilding my SIMS Superlight 10" from 1978. Deck is torn up nose and tail destroyed but have original Tracker trucks and 65 mm Kryptronic MK2 greens. Would be very interested to see Paul's boards with a view to maybe purchase one?
