Arghhh! My Piper crocatum just broke off from its long vine and I needed to urgently propagate it before it dried up. Join me in the process and how I propagated it.

C'est dommage je suis française et je viens d'acheter cette plante. Du coup je ne comprends que par les commentaires en faisant le traducteur automatique. C'est quoi les conseils en gros? J'ai trop peur de la perdre car je comprends qu'elle a l'air difficile 😢 Merci 😊

Salut! Merci pour vos commentaires. j'espère que mes vidéos vous plairont et qu'elles vous seront utiles ! Cette usine Piper est en effet assez difficile. D'après mon expérience, il n'aime pas sécher complètement, je lui donnerai donc un terreau bien drainé. Il aime la lumière vive mais indirecte. Pas de soleil direct. Il veut absolument que quelque chose grimpe. Il ne se propage pas bien mais l'eau semble être le substrat d'enracinement préféré. Fertilisez très légèrement. J'utilise des engrais à libération lente. Si on lui donne les bonnes conditions, il poussera bien. 😃

Unfortunately some of the cuttings rotted off and I gave the rest of the cuttings and the parent plant away to a friend, to make space for other plants. This is definitely a beautiful plant and maybe I'll give it another try again someday.

The cuttings are struggling. Hopefully, they can make it. The original plant is ok though.

Thanks for watching 🙂 Some of the cuttings rotted off, unfortunately but I've given the rest of the cuttings and the original plant away to make way for more plants naughty 😜 Get a Piper crocatum if you can. It makes a lovely trailing plant.

Yes. This is the 2nd I've propagated this and even the 1st time round, the cuttings didn't make it. Ironically though, the parent plant grew from a single leaf that was broken during delivery. I just placed it in water to root. So I guess it really depends.

@@guywithaplant Guess a safer way is to wrap a cup filled with sphagnum moss around the node, and only cut the stem off when there're already some relatively well-developed roots.

That would be a safer way. Do you still have one? I really do like that they make such beautiful trailing plants but when they deteriorate, they go downhill pretty quickly 😥
