Yes! You're absolutely correct. I have another video coming out in the next few weeks that talk specifically about ghost job postings. You're not going to want to miss it. Make sure you're subscribed so you'll you get a notification when the video publishes. Thanks for watching.
I’ve tried all these strategies, but I’m still not seeing any results. The job market in the tech industry is brutal right now, and it feels like every effort is falling flat.
It’s UTTERLY ridiculous to have two degrees multiple certifications and be ignored by these companies. They have UNREALISTIC expeditions and it’s our job to call them out for what they are.
I’ve been subscribed to you for about five years now. I admire your work! I really hate that I’m about to live through another recession 🤦🏾♀️ but I have secure employment this time around. Thank you for your videos!
I appreciate you! Thanks for sharing. I totally agree, going through another recession is scaring and concerning. My team and I will do our best to share as much information as we can to help you master your job search and career. Thanks for watching.
Unfortunately, the US economy is overdue for recession, just historically speaking. Contraction & expansion is how it works. It’s made worse though by greedy CSuites and pointless panic layoffs with the Fortune 500 shouting “The sky is falling!” like Chicken Little🙄
In Canada , I believe we have the same situation, even with targeted search and networking, progressing to 3rd interview is a challenge, that is we pass the ATS filter, pass the 1st interview with HR phone or zoom call, then we are filtered out at the 2nd interview with hiring manager. If there is an episode diving deeper into motivations of the hiring manager for a green light in tech, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and government will be keenly and closely watched. Thank you.
It's not that the companies don't want to hire, sometime's it's felt there is already a preferred candidate for the role and whether you are being interviewed, sometimes it's a tick box exercise. I've never experienced in my professional career the job market to be this challenging.
When you have 20 plus years experience in IT, there's really no point going on a "self improvement" quest. Esp when it comes to spending $$$ for training or extra education,- you need to keep all the resources you can during this period. You can't predict if your spend time on A, B, C or D, that you're next opportunity will be in those specific....
Today I saw a job was only posted 2 hrs ago and already had 100+ applicants, so had stopped accepting (LI doesn’t tell you how many total, just that it’s >100 applicants; it could’ve been 3K). Companies are overwhelmed with resumes- 🙏🏼I ask everyone to please only apply for jobs you really have a great chance at, because it helps us all when we stop clogging the system. I realize this is the OPPOSITE of what most content creators are saying, which is apply for all of it, “Don’t count yourself out if you don’t have all the skills!” 👀 Well, not in THIS market…Competition is stiff; they are not going by hire someone they have to train over someone who’s been doing exactly as the job description describes for 3-4 years already. Be selective, find your niche, and best of luck to everyone!!
Hi Heather, I was a paralegal for 15 years and I had been impacted by a layoff that in 2023, I have been working as a temp since that layoff. It's been very difficult to find a permanent full time position.
@@ProfessorHeatherAustin Hello Prof. Heather, I find that I apply to a lot of job postings and none of them get back to me. I have re-drafted my resume several times and nothing seems to be working. There are not many jobs out there.
Heather, what is your opinion about temp jobs should they be included on a resume? One job was 3 months the other 6 weeks last year. I have been struggling to get interviews. Thanks Frank from Conroe, Texas🤓
What recommendations do you have for someone looking for their first HR job . I have all kinds of education and skills but for an entry level position companies are asking 3-5 years of experience😢
@@ProfessorHeatherAustin Yes it is Heather. Hopefully that is a labor adjustment! However, it has been much worse in history. There was a bad recession in 1982 and took me until 1985 until I got by first full time accounting job. But after that 82-84 recession jobs were plentiful.
