Uriah is a minor character in the Bible that only shows up in a few places. He is famous for being the husband of Bathsheba and murder victim of David. But what else can we know about him? When we dig into the archaeology and text of the Bible we can see two distinct versions of Uriah emerge - which one is most accurate isn't clear but we will explore who this figure may have been. Let's dig in.

Jerusalem at the time was small enough that anyone bathing on their own roof would have been visible from whatever palace existed.

I had another thought: If Uriah was a wealthy Jebusite royal, then could this conflict with Nathan the prophet’s description of a poor man?

He was a shield bearer and the Hittites are the descendants of Heth son of Ham I think

Personally I’m more convinced by the Luwian origin for Uriah’s name. (Commander)
