Ah, yes! Northampton Blvd. and Military Highway! I lived about 1/4 mile south of Military Highway and Greenbriar Blvd. in Chesapeake from 1994-1996 while stationed on the USS Hayler (DD-997) during my last two years in the US Navy.

I live in Maryland and I’ve never driven on US 13. Just looking at it on google maps it looks like a peaceful drive. It looks like it continues to be exactly like that in Virginia.

I would wager that US 17 is similar - I am from Maryland - and have never driven or ridden on any of US 13 in Virginia - or Maryland outside its brief duplex with US 50 on Salisbury MD). Heck - US 1 between Washington DC and Baltimore MD - with the sole exception of the ends and greater Laurel - is largely dishwater-dull - the same is true - amazingly of the Boston Post Road (US 1 north of New York City and before Boston itself) and US 30 in New Jersey.

4:22 I presume that you were completely unaware that US 13 is concurrent with VA 166, and then picks up VA 165 at Kempsville Rd (6:47) before splitting with both at Military Hwy (7:20). To be fair, this is the result of VA 166 not being posted well here at all (and no mention on I-64).
