Taiwan only became a limited democracy until after 1988. Before that it was an anti-communist dictatorship ruled over by the right-wing Chinese nationalist party. If China wants to take over Taiwan with force, first, we must know that China has the control of Taiwan's military, therefore, it is a quick military action, first, China has the inside operator to temporarily paralize Taiwan's military communication system , it starts a few hours before day break, casualty can be very light or can be zero, it shall be a special force operation with quick action, secure Taipei's key locations, control Taipei airport, control Taichung military airport, takes control of Taichung sea port, once control Taipei's key positions, president Tsai and all of her key party members will be under the special force control, the war is over. Proxy war will never happen, this is China, not Iraq, US military experts know what China is capable of, and at this stage, we just hope that Taiwan Tsai will not cross the red line and forces China to take such military action. Taiwan's Tsai is the problem for us not China.
