Nice video with some good US shots. I do teach clinicians to thread up the vein farther. In the video you can see some difficulty threading the catheter off into the vein and this can be easily alleviated by putting more needle in the vein so that the catheter is not banging into the back wall as seen in the video. I also think it is important to recognize that it takes very experienced nurses 25-50 sticks to achieve competence (Ault, 2012 JAVA) so it is important for people to give this skill a lot of practice.
