Reason is that at 17-18-19 you brain learns best and fastest and training has best effect. And as my late father used to say "I'm only obligated to die one day". Anything else is your choice to larger or lesser extent.

Felons cannot join the military if they are on probation or parole, in jail, or facing criminal charges, including misdemeanor offenses and felony crimes. I'm not a vet but I'm raised by a veteran my uncle vietnam he was drafted, they think they will get me I say let's see who's guns are faster I'm the fastest gun in the south cops never pull me over they seen what I can do on the range and military veterans they know I'm the fastest gun. Without a scope 100 yards accuracy and I've gotten attachments from military vets from competing with them.

On my 2nd tour to Iraq, our company had six soldiers who were Stop Lossed(back door draft) serve with us. They were disgruntled, hard to get along with, & insubordinate because they did not want to be there. One guy said he had been "recalled" to service 4 times! This was his 5th tour to Iraq. So I say no to the draft because it causes trouble with those who have volunteered to serve.

Stop loss was the common "reach around" used to prevent mass exodus by the DoD. It was not exclusive to certain MOSs, but grades and branches. Many young NCOs under my commands were extended for 2 years or more.

Selective Service has remain unchanged since the 1950s following WWII. Drafts were used during the Korean, Vietnam, first Gulf, and Second Gulf Wars. Granted numbers in certain conflicts were very low. Voluntary recalls of retirees were common, but not accepted.

It is really bad right now. The barracks are shit holes, no discipline whatsoever ect. In the 80's they made you live with drill sergeants all the way through AIT. No discipline problems after that. Very professional soldiers back then. This military is bad? Not the soldiers fault!

I had to sign up for the draft back in 1972 when I turned 18 during the Vietnam War... They would have the draft lottery each month for the birth date and year... The police here in Chicago would do a stop and frisk on us black males and then ask to see your draft card. No draft card? Off to jail you went... Kept mines in my wallet at all time

Former Army Recruiter here: Back when I voluntarily joined the Army, there were 2 wars going on and I knew what it meant to sign that contract. Wrote my will multiple times from age 26 to 31. Was handed my own body bag upon arrival in the Middle East. Anyways, I am against this draft. We should have a 100% voluntary, fit to fight military force. I wouldn’t want my children serving under this current tyrannical government. Don’t want to get drafted, too easy, get fat, develop asthma, smoke weed! Make yourself disqualified!

My son is 22 about to be 23, and this his last year in the military and just got back in the states from overseas from an injury station at Fort Liberty, medical for therapy and his finger is messed up! And if we have to leave this country then that what it's going to take. There's no way, my son going to continue in this evil man's war and this is his last year in November.
