Us Movie Cast Interview: Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex
With Jordan Peele’s new movie, Us, now playing in theaters, I recently sat down with Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex to talk about making the buzzed about film. During the interview they talked about what they appreciated about Peele’s script and the layers of subtext that he incorporates, how the film is a step toward redefining the black family as the All-American norm, what it was like working with Peele on set, how Peele tailors his creative process to what each individual actor needs, how much did they dig into the mythology and the iconography of the script, what it was like filming the intense and challenging scenes, and a lot more.

They are a family now. The way they talk to each other, and act here, with Lupita and Evan interact seem very mother son. Look at him reaching for the mic without looking and Lupita just watching the hand and gives it to him. 7:13 they are very relaxed with each other. Look at when he passes the mic back to her at 10:05, that smile they share saying "Good job Evan, I'm proud of you." - "She's proud of me ^^"

Keara Toné pretty sure that never happened. No one shoved a whistle down her throat wtf that never happened. She had a weird voice because she had no one to talk to as the rest of the tethered couldn’t speak so she couldn’t exercise her vocal chords. Simple.

They actually look like a real family! the little boy, Evan, is such an adorable little thing that projects so much sweetness! the teenage girl, Shahadi, was amazing in the movie! and she seems so excited and approachable! Lupita is just so classy and smart and beautiful, and Winston is so handsome and has such a presence! ah! all of them are amazing!

The mystery and elements of Doppelganger really brought a refreshing tone to the horror genre. Leaving things unanswered compared to Get Out which wanted its details to be known to help string things along, unlike Us. The idea of having Doppelgangers is something that hasn't been seen in quite sometime if I'm not mistaken, which drives the whole narrative over people's heads a bit but Us lived up to the hype in my book!

Zora (idk her real name) was, for me, the best part of this movie. Her doppelganger was the creepiest of them all. And I like how she knows the least about what's happening so her character is just all about "I dont know what's happening, but I have to survive" And her double always having that's smile, it was just great. I think for her 2nd film, she did fantastic. I also cant wait for her voice as Nala in the live action Lion King.

It was brilliant because it was creative and original in a world that creates remakes, shallow products and redos. But the fact that we are thinking and talking after, the movie did its job. Loved this movie, it’s one of those movies I could watch over and over. I love their chemistry too. Would have been awesome to see in the theaters but once I seen it was on Hulu 👀 I was excited to see it. Jordan is a genius 💯💯💯 can’t wait for what his next project will be.

Once she got uncuffed why didnt the real Adelaide just go home lol? She waited 33 years for revenge instead of just going back through the mirror house and going back home.

It leads me to believe that The tethered is really the one that is still alive and the real Adelaide is dead Its some type of plot twist Im. Afraid I think part 2 is going to be even more terrifying

Maybe she was afraid... i mean she was scared in the beginning... and she prolly ran into her family down there... or maybe it was alot stuff goin on down there since they was Shadows of the ppl above earth

Ive had celebrity crushes before.. But never have they been as intense as my crush for Lupita.. This woman is my ideal woman.. Good lord.. And the thing is, to me she is sexier than the curviest women.. Like her aura man.. Ain't no doctor in the World that can give these girls what Lupita just oozes..

i really hope(all of them) but especially lupita & shahadi have a relationship outside of the industry if that makes any sense! i feel like lupita can be an awesome mentor for shahadi(who already carries herself with much grace & elegance for her age!!!)
