Russia is sending four ships to Cuba - A nuclear submarine, a frigate, an oil tanker, and a tug boat. Two American Destroyers and two sonar ships are shadowing the Russian submarine. Meanwhile another Destroyer and a Coast Guard cutter are shadowing the other three ships. As they neared the coast of Florida, the US Air Force began to spy on the ships. The Canadian and French Navies are also following them. Based on publicly available data, the US and Canadian Navys appeared to be waiting in the Atlantic so they could begin to follow the Russians. These ships pose no threat to the US but US command seems to think it’s a great opportunity to learn more. And look so long as they’re in International waters, they can do whatever they want but so can the US which is why they’re getting quite the welcoming party. Russia is expected to conduct air and naval exercises which will include long-range bombers. These will happen this summer and will lead into a worldwide naval exercise in the fall.
