US, Russia clash at UN: 'Exert pressure on US not on Hamas for a ceasefire', demands Moscow

The UN General Assembly has adopted a Palestinian-drafted, non-binding resolution demanding Israel end "its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory" within 12 months. There were 124 votes in favour and 14 against, including Israel, along with 43 abstentions. As a non-member observer state, Palestine could not vote. The resolution is based on a July advisory opinion from the UN's highest court that said Israel was occupying the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip against international law. The Palestinian ambassador called the vote a turning point “in our struggle for freedom and justice”. But his Israeli counterpart denounced it as “diplomatic terrorism”.

Serial lies from the Russian rep: 40 000+ casualties is a number given by Hamas, hasn't been proven. Even if we take it as a fact, more than 17,000 of these casualties are Hamas combatants, who died in combat. Of the remaining number, most part of the "children casualties" claimed are Hamas teenage combatant, who start at 15, Hamas listing their 15-19 year old combatnts as "children." The number of "women casualties" is also in doubt, incl. by UN (May instant). This brings ys to the lowest in history combatant/civilian casualties ratio of 1:1.5 or less. Moreover, several thousand of the claimed civilian casualties were caused by freindly fire - with 3,000+ Hamas and Jihad rockets exploded in Gaza. Recall the Jihad rocket that exploted last October in a Gaza hospital parking lot killing 49 (claimed as 500 by Hamas). There were mre than 3000 such rockets misfiring in Gaza territory. The rest may be similarily disproved.
