The USS Roosevelt and USS Truman were not in the Persian Gulf during this, they were in the Aegean Sea and we had a corridor through Turkey to provide air support.

5:53, Why is there 6 planes landing when it said all 5 landed? Also in the beginning it was said there was 6 MC-130 bit there was 7, is this a video error or is one extra plane meant for something else so it isn't counted in?

@The Operations Room You called it "A--Day" on the 21st of March. I remember that term from the news but in US that name A-Day was not used anymore. Interesting, and somehow reassuring to hear that, bc no one I know remembers that term. It may have been conflated w "shock and awe" and news just dumbed it down again. Or Def Dept said hey, don't talk about that so loud - to the news. Odd to me that US doesn't know that term on a widespread basis

The Iranians were very forgiving of coalition actions at their doorstep, verging on friendly. I'm not saying anyone strayed onto their lawn or even above it but if/when that should happen they would just remind them where they were and ask if they needed water and directions. Pretty cool guys and not what you would imagine. Quick shout-out for the Brits involved in this, including the RAF pilot flying one of the Harley formation MC-130s. He had an interesting night.

Fun fact: the Turkish President at the time asked the military to come up with a plan on what do do join the invasion or not. The military made its calculations and it was recomended to prepare for about 12000 deaths, since we would invade from the worst terrain. The Half Kurdish president at the Time just Refused the assists the U.S.

My impression from this whole series is that this whole invasion was such a muck up, that a more capable army would have inflicted heavier losses to the American coalition. It was most likely thrown together within months and then launched before it even finished the preparation phase.

I’ve got a question what do you call a video like this? It has a battle map shows where forces were gives you details on what happened in the battle and has visual effects not a lot of people use this kind of thing
@armoredveterinarian5662
@armoredveterinarian5662 3 месяца назад
an animated battlemap maybe? It's not very popular because it's a lot of work to animate all of this. If you check Kings and Generals or other more popular channels that are focused on explaining battles and conflicts, those animations and assets used vary in terms of quality.

The map of the krg is incorrect, the krg controlled the city of erbil and some of the Nineveh plains, also another thing your battle graphics were set to desert and palm trees, even tho it's green there and there are almost no palm trees almost exclusively pine
