Even as ex military, I'm weary of going anywhere US citizens are told not to go too, your training should keep you out of "sensitive places" to begin with, because anything can happen

Travel to Russia requires a pre-approved Visa, and any travel in the military even for R&R needs to go through his chain of command, sure his superior is getting his ass chewed up.
