Most of us agree that we are not perfect. But we don’t know that we are truly in bad shape. Sin is far more serious than we realize it even want to admit. With the thousands of thoughts, thousands of words, & thousands of actions that take place in a single day in each of our lives, imagine how many times we fall short of God’s perfect standard. One hundred? Fifty? Twenty-five?

For our illustration: we will be exceptionally good people & only have three sins on our list. In reality, that number is much higher. Yet even at three sins a day, in a years time that adds up to well over a thousand . If a person lives to be in their seventies, even with the conservative estimate, we will amass a record of more than seventy thousand times that we fall short of God’s perfect standard. Can you imagine walking into a traffic court with seventy thousand speeding tickets & declaring to the judge that you are a really good driver? Ludicrous!
