Gadge takes us through a US Vietnam Infantry Loadout for Airsoft. This is intended as a
Basic Airsoft Loadout. It’s not a suitable guide for living history or re-enactment. It’s NOT an impression. Substitutions and reproductions are used when suitable for airsoft skirmishing where originals are not budget friendly and or may end up getting damaging or damaging the wearer.
We consider boots, eye-pro, face pro, ear pro and gloves PPE. The player should use what is best for their needs in these cases. That may or not mean period correct.

Hi Aaron, i'd have to look into this. Mine is a 1969 dated US one that i picked up for very little in the early 2000s so i've never really needed to look into repro ones that heavily. I'll have to see if anyone we know can loan us one for comparison.

Try and find them in surplus stores, typically much cheaper. I only spent 50-60 dollars top on all the web gear combined.

In the UK vietnam war surplus is almost non existant in surplus stores.

MDRN ERA EQPT :PARA FIGS/HARNESS ETC ! UNFORTUNATELY open only to public THURSDAY - SUNDAY....MON -WED only open to MILITARIA traders etc ..poss MAIL ORDER ??!! REASONABLE WEBSITE HOPE THIS IS USEFUL!

Cheers guys. Great video as always. At my first Nam game, after digging around in my pouches for my 20 rd short M16 mags, I went back to my tent and put a pair or 2 of socks in each pouch. This makes the mags sit much higher in the pouch and makes it a doddle to get them out. On the advice of a mate I also got a old Aussie 5.56mm bandolier. They're much better made than the US ones and only slightly more expensive. Roll on the next Name game. I can't wait!

Putting a field dressing or a sock in the bottom of the pouch was a common 'field fix' in the 'nam too :)

Me and my dad do filmsim games and I actually use an XM177E1 (CBA to carry a full sized M16) Im looking into customizing my helmet more with dog tags though

Like a lot of this kind of info it’s hidden away in specialist collectors groups. You have to use a load of sources to pull it all together. Plus as with many special forces units their kit changes at a rapid pace so you have to be very specific with dates.

I will say, if you are going to do a missmaching, "outdated" (world war 2, Korean Era) gear you can get away with a m1928 Haversack, or later BUT, you would need to use "outdated" uniform and would identify as us allied forces (generally the us would sell surplus guns, uniforms, and webgear to the country we are aiding, so in this case a U.S. Vietnam allied soldier. you can also use this as a "west of Cambodia" loadout.) A west of Cambodia load out is generally MAC V SOG, LRRP, US Allied Special Forces. They would use uniforms and gear that GI would not because they were enguageing in "black ops" so no identifying gear, equipment or uniform.

In your helmet i wouldnt put ammo or anything large it will fall out quick. Maybe a bug juice bottle or a p38 can opener but it will fall out while moving.

3:40 In fact, Colt M653 does not looks like XM177E1/E2 because XMs have different and distinctive flash hider.

Yes we point out that it was anachronistic in the episode and we are well aware of the differences between the models. We’ve included it as this is a filmsim loadout and it’s the same model as used in platoon.

I do actually have VC kit but i'm always wary about taking photos of it on, as im fair haired, fiar skinned and six foot tall it might come across as a bit 'dodgy' dressed as a vietnamese farmer :)

Hello i have question do you know in the vietnam war did they wear camo pants but a plain shirt? its been difficult 2 find pants in the right size and colour 2 match my shirt. or even a camo shirt and plain pants

Mixed patterns happened in units that aquired their own camouflage , in fact mistmatched tigers are common. In regular army units it was almost always matching. The USMC got issued ERDL fatigues later in the war and you sometimes see those guys wearing a mix of jungle green fatigues and ERDL

I'm wondering if you can give me some advice on how I can make my nam era boonie hat, so it will look like more nam like style. I have some of the nam era stuff, like boots, jungle fatigue pants, jungle fatigue shirt, and the nam style hot weather field cap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your advice. I’ll give u some advice if you don’t mind if your using repro jungle boots, that’s fine but a website called army surplus warehouse sells unissued original jungle boots for 45 bucks. Also, stay within m56 gear 67 was used but you’ll get really confused and fuck uo your impression also, get yourself a Rothco boonie and dye it od with yellow and blue dye. Add some grenade pins for character. Also, don’t use 30 round m16 mags they were used to some extent but only in late war, and mostly by special forces units for more tips check out other youtubers like inbush1969 and Pepsi boi

The shoulder holsters were mainly worn by helo/armour crew as well as some SF guys and occasionally Officers--I've not seen them worn by grunts.

Wow, but for Vietnam is better XM177E2 carbine, because Colt M653 was in production since 1973, but excellent tutorial for Vietnam Era Airsoft, thanks 😉😉😉😉

Yes we do actually point that out and talk about it in the video. The m653 was included as they use it as a substitute for XM177s in the film Platoon.

It’s a Custom build I did based off G&P parts. They aren’t available otherwise. E&C and CYMA do something pretty close though.

We generally don’t cover sidearms. They were used at lot less historically than many players seem to think. Mostly people would rather carry more ammo. In the cases where it’s a fundamental part of the loadout (UKSF Direct Action) we go into it.

I have the cyma one (but as we all know the hand guard is from an m4 for battery space) I bought a car-15 hand guard for it and it fits and looks perfect but I can no longer fit the batteries I have. (As of now I’ve made a battery compartment and it’s attached to the front barrel kinda how the delta force ran flashlights on them in the 90s)

Id say the cheapest Vietnam war loadout you can make that is actually accurate is a late war setup. By this time a lot of guys were just running T-Shirts or nothing at all instead of their jungle top. They more or less didn't have a web kit as they had more or less turned it into a belt kit, where they ran just 2 or so canteens, maybe a first aid pouch and a bayonet on a single belt, no suspenders or buttpacks. Many guys carried ammo in bandoliers. Also many guys wore boonie instead of M1s.

ALICE webbing was also used at the very end of the war. It is alot easier to find if you dont want to spend a fortune on M1956

just like to add that the gun in the thumbnail is not an m16 but its a M4. Id like to know why u chose the m4 for the thumbnail and not an m16 like you used in the video? Also good job and very accurate🙂
