For $25 or less you can buy a Ganzo FH-12 and get the same damn blade shape, framelock OR liner lock, same steel and better action/lockup. Don’t sleep on those Ganzos, they do a great job

Great video Neeve As of 10/29/22 11 AM PST Plaza Cutlery has Halloween Malibus and Godsons. Malibu has a witch on the blade, Godson has witch on handle. All sales help Dan (the owner) support his daughter in law and grand babies. Sadly, his son who was LAPD passed suddenly. Strider, Medford, Reeves & Protech all donated knives to sell. Thank you, and apologies for spamming sales, hopefully this is OK with Mr. & Mrs. Neeve.

Yep just don't see value in these knives when comparing against other full made in the USA knives say from Hogue as an example. And considering these are only assembled in the USA should be around 50 or 60 at the most. Asher is a good example of this S35VN for under 100 dollars and awesome build quality but parts are sourced overseas and yes im talking about before he went to full overseas production. Also we are talking about D2 that's been treated overseas so heat treat is a gamble. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
@LonestarTaoboy
@LonestarTaoboy Год назад
Done with D2 = so true. If it is D2 in name only, it is not worth the risk to invest in. Having a knife with good D2 is alright, but there are other steels readily available. The toughness level of D2 is also very low in addition to poor corrosion resistance.
@Patriot-rising
@Patriot-rising Год назад
50 % of what you have isn't right. And even if they didn't have a problem I wouldn't pay more than $35 for them. Sorry but there are so many knives that just stomp these into the ground Your review is spot on. And I appreciate truthful reviews. And yes we or at least I am done with D2. Too many companies have upgraded their steel selection.. So why would we go backwards? I like to see American knives as well but only if their quality control is very good. We expect along with the higher prices to have a knife company that takes pride in what they market. Sorry, but I will have to pass on this one.
@ButcherJoyce
@ButcherJoyce Год назад
I gotta defend D2 here for a second, considering the price, a good heat treaded D2 beats a poorly heat treaded M390 in edge retention and toughness. And about corrosion resistance, if you love your knives you take care of them, so that shouldn't be a problem. 😉
@kosher8720

@SkunkPunch73
@SkunkPunch73 Год назад
Any steel with a good heat treat is a thing of joy 🫵👍😘
@HenryPipes
@HenryPipes Год назад
That's the whole point, this probably isn't good D2. No doubt a USA company with a huge budget can make great D2 but a lot of stuff coming front China just isn't heat treated right. M390 is the same. A poor heat treat means it's not going to perform. A lot of the sub $150 brands just don't do a lot of steels justice. Even Benchmade has had it's hits and misses. Spyderco, other high end brands and customs usually will nail it.
@timwhite5562
@timwhite5562 Год назад
The problem is many knives with D2 aren't heat treated properly, and badly treated D2 is the worst. I own several M390 knives and they all perform the way M390 is supposed to. Those include 3 Lionsteel's, all with exceptional edge retention.

Yikes! Don't know the slightest thing about this company but sound like someone thought he was the first person to discover parts can be ordered from China in mass for dirt cheap then put together for a markup. Thought knife people wouldn't know this and tried to take advantage. Not saying I think that's the case, but seems like that kind of scenario.
@IrishBombSquad

And this is why we do knife reviews, is for other people to be able to make informed decisions about what they’re going to invest their money into.
@catmandu6776
@catmandu6776 Год назад
I for one would really appreciate a honest knife reviewer to start doing in depth reviews of the companies and manufacturers of these products. There is a huge disparity in price from USA, German and Italian made knives compared to Chinese made knives. I'm so sick of seeing comments from mostly uneducated buyers, saying that they can buy the same knife from Ganzo or some other Chinese rip-off brand for less. WHY, can you buy a Chinese knife for less? These reviews are made to educate the buyers before a purchase but in my opinion, are only surface level deep. Actually educate the buyer of what they are buying and from whom they are buying from.

End point= read the fine print. As always, thanks for the honest review, Jared 👍😎😁 My Spydie Para 3 C223GP WAS made in the USA and I take pride in that. I'm a firm believer that the QC issues we're seeing from US made knives is due to a decline in US workers' ethics. Laziness is becoming the new norm. Caring about and taking pride in one's job and performance is becoming a thing of the past. Personal accountability has turned into pointing the finger towards others. Sad...

I'm just tired of D2. And D2 for that price is ridiculous. You can get a insanely well built D2 for under 50. Granted it's not "Assembled in the USA" but still you work hard for your money you want to get the best value you can. Think about this. For the price of 3 of those knives you can get a Henry 22 lever action that's completely made in the USA and is very well made. For the price of 2 of those knives you can get a pair of Redwing or Thorogood boots that are handmade in the USA. I want to support US stuff so bad and I'd even pay more for it but I can't pay more than double what the knife should cost and the bad QC is the cherry on top.
