Thank God that this great artist lived long enough to be brought back to the USA and honored, after the shameful way he was treated during the McCarthy era.
America lost a lot when Chaplin was exiled. I can't help but wonder which interviews did we miss out on? Would live TV audiences lure Chaplin into doing television? What films did we miss out on as a result of losing his studio, staff and crew?
Happy not only for Charlie, but for Oona as well. It must have been wonderful for her to be back in NYC, where she was raised. I believe she renounced her American citizenship when Charlie’s visa was revoked. She was a wonderful wife.
Bless his heart ❤️ Seems like a small gesture compared to the enormous amount of joy and laughter Mr. Chaplin gave us - and is still giving ❤️ Love you forever and ever Charlie Chaplin ❤️
People mistakenly believe that since Chaplin was not called before the HUAC that he wasn't a victim. He was one of the most persecuted people of the era, in fact. In this time of intolerance for differeing points of view and political opinion, let us never forget the lesson of that era. Long live Charlie Chaplin!
