Throwing beads down by hand is stupid and potentially dangerous. We had a painting contractor get sued because they threw beads down by hand and didn't clean up afterwards and a bicyclist rode over them and crashed. Had another instance where an airport restripped their runway and used glass beads, the planes sucked up the beads and ruined the engines. That was a very costly lesson.
