USA vs The World Speedway Motorcycle Racing at Costa Mesa 1974 8mm Home Movie

Please forgive my shaky cameraman work but I filmed this USA vs the World match at Costa Mesa California in the early 1970s with my Super 8mm movie camera (1974 I believe, please correct me). The film features Ivan Mauger, Barry Briggs, Bert Harkins, Chris Pusey, Zenon Plech vs Mike Bast, Steve Bast, Sonny Nutter, Danny Becker, Rick Curoso, Bill Cody.

I grew up watching speedway at the Orange County Fairgrounds, in the 1980s. I literally lived a half mile away.

I was at a daytime race at CM in 1974 that was a USA VS World race. It looks like the same race and line-up.

I'm trying to find my Super 8 footage from turn 4. I'm just below the signal light when Ivan Crashed. I was filming.

Boy, the memories! Dad and I did Ventura every Tues. Wed get to Orange County (Wed. as I recall), it was a bit of a drive,. Many thanks for sharing this!

CJ, thank you so much for this video. My dad, Mike Curoso is wearing the #2 bib in this race but wore #54 on his helmet and leathers. He was maybe 20 years old in this video.
