@@waterproof4403 Bruh, Bolt is a bigger cheater then Gatlin ever was. Lol the Jamaican government sponsors the drug program for their track and field athletes. Prior to 2008 The men had never won any more than two gold medals at a single Olympics. They had only won a total of seven in the history of the Olympics. The women had never won any. Then all of a sudden in 2008 the men and women started dominating. By 2016 the men's domination was over. Had it not been for all the cheating the United States would have been dominating for like 20 or 30 years straight. I'm sure the Jamaicans are working on their next overly juiced Usain Bolt. Shelly and Frazier Pryce is getting faster at age 36 after having a child. That's laughable.

@KenpoKid77
@KenpoKid77 2 года назад
@Joe Bloggs You mention the rest of the world, but the rest of the track & field world knows about Jamaica's history very well. They've been competitive since 1948. Only USA has more total track medals. Average runner in Jamaica starts running in kindergarten, while the average American runner starts in high school. The Jamaican runner you see winning Olympics and Worlds events were the high schoolers who used to dominate against America in high school meets like Penn Relays in years past People in Europe knew about Usain Bolt's greatness since he was 16, while the U.S. casual viewers only started paying attention when they started losing to him the Olympics. In other words, a Jamaican sprinter testing positive for drugs would have made international news. The size of a country and its population has nothing to do with this. US lost in skateboarding to a 13-year old from Japan, another small island...so was he doping too?

I think what is perfectly clear here is that the Media and the general public have absolutely no idea what it takes to be an athlete of this level in terms of mental and emotional strength. The assumption seems to be that two fierce competitors on the track can't have a professional and courteous relationship off the track. Clearly, Bolt and Gatlin talk and discuss issues behind the scenes. They are obviously on the same page n a way the press isn't expecting, as is evident from the way they interact with each other in this interview. The press seems to expect that they must hate each other. These two grown men are obviously more mature and professional than they are given credit for.

@TimothyJ.Lochhead
@TimothyJ.Lochhead 2 года назад
@ura bura Yes, it was very fair! These athletes handled the questions well, and with the click bait title I wanted to check this out: the reporter who asked the doping question did not mean any disrespect - she asked a legitimate question! All you have to do is answer it and say no, it's not like that and here is why. She phrased it well enough and there was no disrespect, how can it be a tough question if it's so easy to address? What would be disrespectful is making statements and claims and accusations, but a question in it's very nature is respectful. Her tone and delivery weren't arrogant or anything - it was tough and she put it out there - on the contrary that took guts. Now Gatlin's remark about the training while other people are sitting behind computers is disrespectful. I'm a big fan of sprinting and athletics, but it's a real treat to be able to run for a living. All these sports are overblown and the money is insane - we don't have to go there - and Gatlin didn't have to go there either and insult people stuck behind computers. Maybe if he said sitting on a couch, but even still, he specifically said computers as if to insinuate that pro athletes are better than everyone else because they've been teenage stars and beyond.
@mikeyslots_
@mikeyslots_ 2 года назад
@@TimothyJ.Lochhead I can get with what youre saying but I'll have to disagree about running being a "real treat", especially at the Olympic level. The amount of training and work put it is anything but a treat. You literally dedicate your life to a single thing and everything you do revolves around it. Those reporters could never understand the sacrifice and the mental and physical strain that being an Olympic athlete endures. The treat is the money, the fame, and the lifestyle, but the work to get there is more than 99.9% of people are willing to put in
@TimothyJ.Lochhead
@TimothyJ.Lochhead 2 года назад
@@mikeyslots_ When I said it's a real treat, I was including those challenges. I did not mean that being a treat means it's a flowery walk in the park and pure bliss or something - I mean being completely grateful for having the opportunity to 'work' a 'job' whereby your task is training and having an athletic team and all these things focused on your own body. Do these athletes choose to go that road? Is anyone holding a gun to their heads? On the point about being a treat, or real treat - let's rephrase that for a moment to include everyone. For example, looking at 'western society' in general, there is this massive sense of entitlement and giant lack of gratitude all around. Are there challenges in everyone's lives and jobs? Of course. Would someone rather be homeless or jobless? So I am meaning to start from a place of gratitude to begin with. Gatlin knocked people working at computers out of nowhere and why was that remark needed? That shows a glimpse into his mind. Or perhaps struck a cord within him - I don't they directly answered the doping Q and said "no", and went off making themselves out to be insulted and thus the victims. I can see the frustrations with doping from a few sides, because many spectators like to turn a blind eye and like watching all these records. Even still, they have the chance to turn down that ticket and stay natural, even if that means not entering that system. (Don't get me started on the drug side haha). Of course I do agree many couldn't do what they do - but could this guys sit behind a computer 8 hours a day, or sit stuck in traffic, and so on? Who does their training benefit? Are they training others? Are they speaking up about eating healthy and exercising? Could he pick up garbage or clean up after others? Or is he beyond this and better than others because of being such a phenom? And you raise more good points about how extreme sports are now - they are still just sports! I have seen an analogy with teenagers and these guys are full-time teens, where life revolves around training and taking care of oneself, for *their* sport. Like with teens where their family does everything to help drive them around to practices and feed them and let them get rest and focus on training. Is that tough? Ok - would you rather be a plumber or build houses? They like the attention and also working on themselves. We could extend this to asking if the pressure and level of things is insane or not. I mean, are they well-developed individuals? And getting back to a point I had above - we can ask that of ourselves and anyone. Is a hyper materialistic or 24/7 attitude on any job going to result in a well-balanced individual? But to get back on topic, would any of these top guys trade in their training schedules for other positions? Even if you slashed their money by 90% or whatever, would they still do what they do? I think they would, making having coaching and all their resources a real treat, even if brutal haha :D

@@TimothyJ.Lochhead @Tim Lochhead People want respectful answers for disrespectful questions. Gatlin's response about those sitting behind computers is wonderful. Seems you are among those sitting behind computers that's why you're writing a journal of pain here. Who cares?
@TimothyJ.Lochhead
@TimothyJ.Lochhead 2 года назад
@@samv6269 There are several points - but why do you think it was a disrespectful question? She was not rude, and did NOT make accusations - she asked a question. A tough question perhaps, so how else are we supposed to ask about doping? I agree someone can ask in a rude tone, or make accustions (which she did not), or ask something inappropriate (ex. family or sex life, which is no ones business). Why would a doping question be off limits? As for your claim "Seems you are among those sitting behind computers" - so what if I was? (And note how you did not ask me, you made a statement/claim). Years I used to work as an auditor (hint - red flags if someone ever got angry at a simple question), and for the last 10 years as a training and nutrition coach. So I know what it's like on both sides and used to sit there and know how terrible it was. Do you know what it's like? Even working as a trainer, I'm actually on my computer a lot but have had a standing workstation for the last 10 years, because I know what sitting does to someone. Let's try to expand on some points to think as a coach and be open to different perspectives on what is said. (Example, have you heard of the studies where 5 people or however many go into a meeting, and all 5 come out with *different* stories from the *same* meeting? One says the boss was mad, another says we need to do better, another whatever they hear in their mind, and so on. Funny you thought I had a journal of pain - I'm fast at typing and enjoy writing - and perhaps if you re-read again with extra info on where I'm coming from it will be different.). Well, what do you think when you ask a friend or family member or whoever a (tough) question, and they not only dodge the question, but also play a victim card? 'You're disrespecting me'. Would you be thinking something was up? (Notice no one explicitly said "no it's not tighter doping controls at all"). I'm not saying it is or isn't, or that there explanations of doing the best and it being tough aren't valid - it was how they answered that and also calling out people behind computers like they're irrelevant or being condescending to them. Unless overly rude or making statements (i.e. not a question) - there aren't any bad questions - people are afraid of the answer. Have you noticed that? As an auditor but also nutritionist, I can see how I have more experience with questions and perhaps what some think are small nuances, and sometimes these little things aren't so little. Hence the saying 'the devil is in the details', anyone can say overall nice sounding things; and do you think that behaviours and little snippy remarks say something? Even though I like Bolt's running, how can I be a hypocrite when I do not like people who dodge questions or use these tactics, even if it's someone I enjoy? Wouldn't I have to be fair across the board? It's more about Gatlin's remark - where I see people who do their best to counteract all the sitting or whatever job they are working. So I was saying to be more grateful (which we can all practice more), and not put down an easy target because someone chooses to be offended. Did they not choose to be offended? If someone asked me about whether I use drugs, I take it as a compliment and would explain I don't even touch so much as tylenol, and train and eat a certain way etc. - but I wouldn't put them down. (If someone said "hey Tim used a ton for sure, no way he isn't" or something, well that's a different ballgame because now they're trying to trash me). And to bring back to an original sentiment, that stuff wasn't the issue Micah was talking about, he was responding to when I said it's a treat to be able to sprint for a living - and it's not? I did not mean it is all 'fun and games' and no hardship - I was meaning, it's a treat to have hardships and challenges in pushing one's body and yes, even 'beating up' your own body. It's not like some super sacrifice for all of society being an athlete, is it?

A logic like that which has a highly nuisances and open ended take on offenders being held held accountable and materially sanctioned for intentional cheating is highly problematic. It might be good posturing for a budding moralizer, but opens up the gates for abuse by the powerful or powerful backers. Obviously if the intention was to influence behavior The efforts of multiple light sanctionings failed.

Love Gatlin's humility here, despite his 'Bad Boy' reputation in the eyes of the pompous, condescending, uppity, narcissistic British Media. I especially loved what Bolt says to Gatlin at the end of the question about the negative British Media🇬🇧,(22:04)... *"You punked out Justin, you punked out man!"*
