Apparently that was de Grases plan. Bolt was older and he and his coach wanted to tire Bolt in the semi so he would be slower in the final. Bolt still won though.
That moment when your younger Brother, who looks up to you and wants nothing more than your approval, annoys you to no end.🤣 Obviously Degrasse went a bit too hard in this Semi final.... but I'm sure in time Bolt will be over any slight annoyance from this moment and legitimately root for his "young n' impressionable brother". And as a Canadian.... Nothing but Love for the Big man. It's pretty evident Andre respects Bolt more than anybody and just got caught up in the moment.
@@jamesm1579nah bolt was actually upset with dude for a while because of it. At one point they weren’t interacting with one another on social media until degrass won gold at the 200 during the recent olympics
youd rather beat usain bolt in the semifinal where he wasnt even trying, than save energy and potentially win the final? degrasse here got lucky that no one else was fast enough to beat him in the final, but he himself said he regretted trying that hard in the semi because he wasnt able to run nearly as well in the final while bolt ran the same time oh fyi, bolt still won this semi and went on to win the final
@@TrollGamer-wj4ep doesnt matter who you beat in the semifinal, degrasse is an olympic now gold medalist... he himself agrees he shouldnt have gone all out that semifinal because it hindered his finals performance, where he couldve potentially challenged bolt
It’s actually a little disappointing to see that the iconic moment of them side by side and smiling at each other was actually an annoyance for Bolt and not what it looked like all along. It honestly seemed to me all this time that Degrasse was just revelling in the moment of pushing himself against what is probably the sprinter he looks up to the most. That smile on his face tells me that, but maybe I’m wrong.
Your comment is senseless. Even DeGrasse admitted that he went too fast in the semis after he didn't run his best in the finals that year. The rounds are for preserving energy not to prove anything
@@brianong671It was a race though. Just because Bolt decided to slow down doesn't mean somebody else had to. And why not go all out? Sprinters slow down before the line too often.
it's easy to say that this is about ego, but it's more about a gentleman's agreement. It works like this: 1) In preliminary phase/semi finals you exert just enough energy to qualify 2) So if the top 2 have secured the win, it is disingenuous for #2 to try to pip #1, where #1 is clearly following rule #1. 3) It paints the picture of "I bested you" where that isn't really the case. 4) It isn't ego, it is more a question of honor. Bolt saw De Grasse as dishonorable. 5)I.e. clearly you lost the race, but you want the fans to think otherwise. I think yes Usain cold let it go, but it is more about "I expected more from you". 6) Of course it is a race and Bolt can choose to nullify degrasse, but in doing so, they would now both be overexerting themselves. 7) Which puts Bolt in a lose-lose situation. I.e. let Degrasse be disingenuous or let us both be disadvantaged. 8) The other side to this is that De Grasse may have done it deliberately as a mindgame or to tire out an older Bolt 9) Which is still an act targeted in some way at Bolt, prior to the finals. 10) all in all, this boils down to, an unnecessary battle before the battle, which is why it annoyed Bolt.
EXACTLY!!!! I remember thinking that when I saw it. Ego: he had to be 1st even in just a "semi" in his words. People who read the finger wagging at the end of the race as" a special moment" were way off. He was admonishing him.
