I'm a techy. However ignorant of this "new" protocol. My nephew claimed the charger and cable he got with his Samsung changed faster than a pair I pulled out of my collection. I told him 5V is 5V, and the only way to push more power was to UP the V. I=E/R. I didn't realize he was correct. Now I am aware. Thanks!

There are power banks with USB-C ports handling both input and output. So that a mains charger charges the power bank on the same USB-C port that charges another device (such as a phone). How does that USB-C port know the direction of the power. For example, when 2 power banks are connected together over their USB-C PD ports, which power bank is changing or being charged? Thanks.

Great explanation. This 2.0and 3.1 versions are great news for the consumers. Thanks to the EU comity, they are in the process of forcing companies like apple and samsung the use universal power supplies. So hopefully at the end of the struggle the consumers in the EU will benefit from all these new features of USB-C

Great Discussion: Thanks! I tried going to the links above, It seems that it is not easy to find your USB-c PD gear! My recommendation: Please, make the link page go to PD enabled gear starting with the most capable products first! This would be in the spirit of the good and easy features of powering with USB-c PD chargers. I am only trying to make you more money! You have already done most of the work by presenting this video! You already sell & MAKE the products! (I think!) It seems that all is needed is to clearly list the PD feature capabilities and current and wattages etc. Also, The website needs to point back to these videos! Thanks again! Also, For ease of reading see how the site handles reading with several CTRL+'s that I use to read! I usually prefer 7 Ctrl+'s if it doesnt break things too much!

I will wait until my new Olympus with the USB-C port arrives, don't want my Gimbal on such a high charge rate it tries to strangle me. I will use the correct charger for the appliance, definitely worth subscribing to your channel, peace Bro'.

I have to take issue with one thing. I own a 65 watt warp charger from OnePlus and it offers PD type C charging. I discovered this when I attempted to use it to charge my Microsoft surface laptop. In addition, I also own 2 type C output super vooc 125 watt chargers and they are also capable of PD charging. It is true that they deliver proprietary charging formats but, they also support pd, PP as well as QC formats. As it turns out, they are very versatile.

Thanks for the explanation... I have a question. I have a netbook-sized computer that has 1 USB - C port for charging and connecting devices. The Charger plug: TYPE-C30IC suggests 30W PD. I want to purchase a Pass through hub to be able to charge both the device and connect other devices at the same time... I've been told NOT to use either of the 65W, 87W or 100W PD Pass-Through Hubs. I'm confused... the advice I was given appears to contradict what's being said in this video... I don't want to fry my little CODA WAVE computer - HELP!
@firdaus99031

It doesnt matter whether 65, 87, or 100W. USB PD will auto adjust based on device wattage needs and do the pass-thru

I have 3 type c chargers at home , 1 in the car and 1 at work. Not one of them can change my new Pixel 7pro ! I'll be returning the phone just because of the complexities of charging, it should have been able to charge with a simple type c . All these big companies are creating more waste at a time when we are trying to recycle.

If it does not support charger will just send standard 5V/0.9A and nothing happens, USBPD extra power modes need to be requested by device.

Perhaps a dumb question, but I'm really just trying to figure out if a usb-c PD cable is a thing and if it's required to work with a charger that has PD. I'm seeing some cables advertised on Amazon as PD and other cables that are for fast charging but it doesn't mention PD
@6210classick
@6210classick 2 года назад
Generally, most Type-C cables capable out at 30-60w but PD ones are capable of reaching 100w so any Type-C cable that can charges at 100w if not more, is PD certified. Just don't cheap out and buy the least expensive option and brother's go for the most expensive

Cables are not rated in wattage. Its in Amps. Most of them are 3A And 5A. That's 60W and 100W respectively

My monitor came with a 85W pd cable, will I damage my monitor if I replaced the 85w cable with a 100w cable?
@ShadowriverUB
@ShadowriverUB Год назад
No, those values only say maximum power that cable can handle before isolation starts to melt, every cable has this parameter usually, power cables most obviously. Also the way USB PD works is that host/charger as long as it follows the spec won't sent more then standard 5V/0.9A (4.5W) until client device request it.

Can I charge a PD device with a non PD charger and a non PD device with PD charger?
@ShadowriverUB
@ShadowriverUB Год назад
Mostly Yes, as long as they USB devices follows the spec, all USB devices are made to receive standard USB power of 5V/0.9A (4.5W). Only exception may be non battery devices that require more power to function. 2.Yes, USB-PD is optional feature and all chargers that follow spec will always start up by sending standard 5V/0.9A until client device request more, so or else charger is faulty it should work and function normally.
