The logo looks nice, but for what the company is, isn’t suitable. It isn’t lively and playful. It isn’t “them” at all. And the name.. I can’t get over how ridiculous it is lol. I hate it so much.

I've been a UBAM consultant for 5 years. I loved this company when I joined but the last 2 years so much of what I fell in love with started going away and too much twaddle was replacing it. Every new release season comes new titles with the same content. How many books about the body and sea creatures do we need?? Then with this new name and rebranding has totally fallen flat on me. You are so right about upper levels hyping it and not allowing any negativity to be spoken. If you aren't all in, they don't want to hear from you.

Like I say, an MLM is an MLM! I loved UBAM for many reasons, but they’re moving more and more towards being your typical MLM I would say.

I got invited to a paper pie party & at first thought, what is this? Then I looked it up because it sounded similar to Usborne. Yeah, I don’t feel like that name is as strong. It’s cute, maybe as a branch or offshoot, but Usborne was well recognized. I think it had a stronger name as well.

This is so silly to me. I'm a current consultant, not a leader or anything more than a mom that loves getting these books and things for my own kids. I just don't understand the hate. I was stoked for the name change because "usborne books & more" was sort of ridiculous to write out and most just dropped the "& more". We still have all the Usborne books, but now it feels like an all around cooler kid focused company. Sure change is weird for almost everyone, but I genuinely thought it was super cute and fitting. Buuuuut maybe I'm just weird? lol

I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s not horrible. I just don’t understand the meanness I’ve seen on all these platforms. Yes, it’ll take a lot of getting used to, and exciting and explaining to customers, but this seems like it’s been a long time coming? Usborne has been a company for so very long, then UBAM piggybacked on the brand for years even though they weren’t actually the same thing..? It seems to me like UBAM needed to solidify who they actually were and they had to start somewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️ They’ll never please everyone, but I’m thinking they assumed most children’s book lovers would be a fan of the lighthearted bubbly feel of the rebrand. Here’s hoping it works out.

@@emmashort6172 I mean, I said it in the video. I believe the loss of brand recognition is going to hurt the company and the consultants. From what I’ve seen publicly, it’s the consultants who love it and the customers and outsiders who don’t. Will it hurt business? Yet to be seen.

When I first heard the name I thought it sounded like a stationary store. When I hear Paper Pile I don't think of books and educational activities. I have always been a fan of UBAM's books. Curious to see where this all goes...

I am one of those who had heard of Usborne Books but never knew they were an MLM until recently. No question that this will be bad for business. Glad you are covering this company, you are correct that it isn't getting much play apart from your channel. Adorable dog!!

Current consultant here! I hate the name. I completely agree that this is going to probably break the company. Definitely a bummer. Also not looking forward to inviting people to a "PP party" 🤣🤣

A rebrand can make or break a brand. I don't know if they should have fully rebranded with the new name. Color scheme and mission would've been alright to change. But changing the name from Usborne to Paperpie just seems a little odd to me since, as you said, they had a lot of name recognition with Usborne.

I think they were forced to change and eliminate Usborne from the name. I don’t know for sure, but this came about when they announced a change in agreement with Usborne Publishing, so my guess is they’re just doing what they have to do.

Usborne Books & More was a special company. It stood out from the rest of the vicious, dog-eat-dog publishing world for so long. I will always treasure my first years there. I wish nothing but the best for PaperPie as I know so many people's livelihoods depend on it. Crossing my fingers for everyone involved.

Usborne Publishing is great. UBAM is just another MLM in my opinion. And if you look at their income disclosure statement, actually not many peoples’ livelihood depend on it.

Much of what is said here is just NOT true. There was no “immediately pulling Usborne books from library orders with no warning”. At the same time though, the name “Usborne” was not optional to stay in the name. You sure spend a lot of energy discrediting others. Pretty sad!!

Hmmm in an email from UBAM on May 19, 2022: “As our new agreement changes the distribution into the US market moving forward, we thought we would highlight some of the most important changes that will impact us: Our UBAM division will continue to have access to sell Usborne titles, with some limitations on sales to schools and libraries. While we never had exclusivity in the school and library market for Usborne titles, going forward we will be focused on selling directly to our core customers in that market, individuals (parents and students). This eliminates accepting direct orders from schools or libraries for Usborne titles (P1 or P3 orders), but enables us to continue selling Usborne titles in special programs, including book fairs, Reach for the Stars!!, etc.” The above was also stated that same exact day in a live video in the leaders Facebook page that I have screen recorded. So would you like to tell me how my information is false? I’m a little confused. Or maybe you are…..???

Commented on that May 19th live video to clarify and answer a consultant question: “Direct sales of Usborne titles (only) stop immediately. Special programs continue as-is.” Immediately aka without warning ;)

I used to like your content, but now I avoid using it. I'm not sure what happened with you, but I was in leadership (stepped down by my choice for personal reasons) and had no issues with them. I have been with UBAM, now PaperPie for 3 years. I love it.

Currently a Brand Partner, I do have to say that I am glad that I created my own branding as an online book store and have goals that are outside of PaperPie for that. My business is the contacts I make through this, not PaperPie itself. So I see your point on it hurting those who didn't do this.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but spreading negativity, hate and pure gossip is just gross. This company and the amazing people in this company literally saved my life. I have experienced nothing but positivity, encouragement and support in all aspects of my life. These amazing men and women have become my family. This rebranding is exciting as it allows us to grow in the direction we want to grow. The changes stemmed from the changes with Usborne Publishing's contract with Usborne Books & More. We can now equally represent Usborne Publishing, Kane Miller Publishing, Learning Wrap-Ups, and SmartLab Toys. As far as being an MLM company, I have never felt more supported in any work environment. There is no fine print, no secrets, no "gotcha" moments.

You sound like every MLMer out there. “I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but it’s been great for me!” Never mind that my experience is the same as the majority of those who have been in multi-level marketing companies. What I’m doing by educating and sharing my experience is NOT gross. What’s gross is believing that people in the company saved your life.
