As an OU fan I saw this coming a mile away. The horrible defense, the constant shootouts in every single game against bad teams.....the total lack of physicality or drive what so ever. This is what Riley does, crumbles against just good to average teams. Softest culture ive ever seen. The anount of Grinch leftovers at OU who dropped out after doing workouts with Smitty and Venables was very telling.
As a USC fan, I never agreed with the hire. I knew it would make us a less physical team, and USC is known for being a physical team. I'm kind of happy we lost because it gives a reality check to all of the USC fans. But at OU, you guys did the same thing, you guys praised Lincoln when he was at Oklahoma. But I understand that he is not the guy. I miss the same old USC days. I'm sure you remember 55-19, miss that.
Also, the defense wasn't the problem in this game or all season, that's how I know you haven't watched all of the games. It's been the offense putting the defense in bad situations all season. The offense gave up 28 points and then ND returned a kickoff. The defense only gave up 200 yards and 13 points

I was expecting ND to win by a couple scores, but I didn’t expect them to rip USC to absolute shreds. Happy for Freeman, he’s a big improvement over Kelly.

he went 9-4 with no qb and still beat a top 5 ranked team then this season nd played one of the hardest 4 game stretches this season against all undefeated teams. ended up losing to osu by literal inches and taking a tough loss to louisville. now he just beat one of the most explosive offenses in the country. id say it’s a major improvement from when kelly was here.
If USC struggled at ND in October, wait until they join the Big Ten and have to travel to Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State in November/December. Everyone knows that when the weather starts to get cold, the team that’s more physical usually win. I am not saying that USC is going to struggle in the Big Ten, but the day of having dam near perfect football weather in October, November and December are over.

Nine times out of ten, the winner of Wisconsin/Iowa usually wins the West. Even this year they’re 4-2. Playing Wisconsin, especially at Wisconsin is always a tough game
I’m from Utah. We all knew who they were. The sports media wants a competitive USC so bad that they propped them up when the whole country knew that their defense sucks and Williams is amazing till he hits a tough defense that hits back. USC is a one man show with a few decent receivers. Outside of that, they got nuttin.
The problem with USC was not its defense, it was its offense. How did you miss this after watching the game twice? The offense had 5 turnovers near USC's end zone and GAVE Notre Dame 35 points (including the failure of special teams). The defense was responsible for 13 of Notre Dame's points, the offense was responsible for 35 of Notre Dame's points. Defensive coordinators have figure out how to stop Caleb Williams and Caleb Williams is the entirety of USC's offense. Going forward, USC can expect to lose to Utah, Washington, Oregon, and UCLA, and end the season 7-5.
Oct, Nov Dec in the upper Midwest is PERFECTION of FB weather. Seperates the weak from the strong in a fashion no other climate can. your QB has to throw in that lake wind, or you have to run or stop the run....end of story.

too be fair Arizona is actually a pretty decent team. They're not elite or anything but they got a couple dudes. That freshman QB may look like a Make A Wish kid out there but he's going to be fun to watch over the next couple of years.
Reminded me of watching OU in 2021. You can't outscore everyone every time in a shootout. Eventually you meet someone who can play defense, and you watch their average offense run away from you because your defense can't stop anything.

In Carroll's first year, SC went 6-6 but the largest margin of victory in a loss was 11 points (to ND coincidentally). Yeah they weren't good, but at least they were keeping games from being complete blowouts. This loss was the equivalent of Kiffin's choking to Stanford as a 41 point favorite. Riley's problems look unsolvable, as he cannot see what the issue is.

This game didn’t come down to the defense they played fine and were constantly put in bad spots by there offense. USC’s offense got worked by Notre Dame’s defense across the board

i think that yall miss the fact that football is about matchups and game plan. You can exploit a weakness or a matchup and Notre Dame did that... USC will bounce back and Notre Dame will as well. Everyone forgets that ND is 2 bad plays away from being undefeated as well
I'm glad USC lost, I'm a Trojan fan but i knew we were going to lose, we are not physical on offense at all, it wasn't even the defenses fault this time, the offense turned it over a lit and gave up a kick return.
Lincoln Riley needs to go find a high end defensive coordinator and just turn all defensive authority and duties over to him and just focus on everything else. He obviously knows and understands nothing about defensive football.
Matt is still not giving ND any credit on defense, this says a lot about Notre Dame more than USC. Notre Dame is a CFP caliber team but had a brutal schedule and is one play away vs OSU from being a Top 10 team right now. It was an embarrassing loss. The offensive line just imploded. Ppl have been forgiving the USC defense, but... **they still allowed 41 points** (not counting the 99 yard kick return). Short field or not... its still 41 points.. to Notre Dame. Just f'king sad in all three phases of the game. Get ready for an 8-4 season, and a trip to the Las Vegas Mayo bowl.
I’m sure I’ll get flamed on this one but I’m not convinced Williams is going to have much success in the NFL. NFL needs you to play in structure. You can’t out athlete people in the nfl at the qb position.
I'm a huge Notre Dame fan. But I think this game was more about USC than Notre Dame. Way more. They got some serious issues. Notre Dame needs to get the offensive line straight now. And get some speed at receiver. And we got that coming next year. It's already in the bank. But USC I don't know what they need to do.
As a diehard ute fan i'm very worried about this game simply because of our injuries, we have 16 players injured including cam rising. If we had them all we would walk all over usc

Ya got that wrong, I think the D did ok, better than expected. All those turnovers came from ND camping in their backfield. Lincoln needs something that resembles an Oline.
So much talking in circles here, let me help. It comes down to USC's OL being trash, and ND having really good CBs which led to Caleb Williams getting harassed and forced into 3 turnover on the wrong side of the field. USCs defense didn't play that poorly overall, they were put into bad situation after bad situation because ND dominated them in the trenches and forces them to make mistakes
When your offense puts your defense inside the red zone on most on 3 of those possessions and gives the ball back to the other team 5 times, you don't deserve to win the game. This result is a long time coming. LR has a culture problem.
