@@HiroForever They're not just another marching band "covering" the song. (And I'm someone who did marching band for years and played this tune multiple times in the stands.) The USC band is literally playing on the original track. They are credited musicians. Sure, the musicians who actually played on the track are no longer members of the band (now alumni), but the BAND as an organization still stands. "Tusk" set the record for most musicians recorded on a single. Saying that the Trojan band shouldn't be allowed to take any kind of tangential ownership over it is just disrespectful. That's like telling the guitarist of a band that he can't play one of the songs he's performed on because he didn't ~write and produce~ it.
@@0verjoyed_ac Wasn't that part of the original deal with Fleetwood Mac? USC marching band would provide music for the track and the video-as a thank you Mick Fleetwood granted the USC band copyright permission to use it as their official theme & school fight song. Is that not accurate?
Thomas Joseph No, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. There was a deleted comment saying that the band doesn’t deserve to “own” the track or whatever, and that was my rebuttal.
@@0verjoyed_ac thank you for responding, but I'm a bit confused as you said "no." Does the USC Marching band (and the school itself) own or at least have permission from Mick Fleetwood/Buckingham (Warner Bros music label?) to use the song?
I hate USC Trojans. Especially as Tennessee Volunteer because of what Lane Kiffin did but USC has one of the best bands in college football. Better than Stanford's punks who are just there to get a rise out of people. Stanford's band sucks.
I am a bruin so therefor I should hate USC and everything that is associated with it. Somehow I can not do anything except love the band. Guess I'm going to hell!
