This is my USC Trojans season preview. What are the Strengths and weaknesses of this team? Will the Defense play in the BIG 10? Will the offense be able to carry the team to a College Football Playoff? All of these questions and more will be answered here on this episode of the BIG 10 Quicktalk Podcast. Nice video. Keep up the good work. May have missed a few points. I think the secondary will be the best unit on the defense. Easton Mascarenas-Arnold and Eric Gentry have a chance to be really good as linebackers as well

Not bad for a casual. You need to do your research a bit better though. QB will be great, receivers just as good, decent secondary. The questions are line depth on both O and D and linebacker play. The LBs are deep but time will tell. The secondary is probably the strongest part of the D. The running back corps is great. The only issue is how much will Riley run the ball?

Going into the BIG 10, I think it is paramount that Riley runs the ball at least 30% of the time.

Easton is the best linebacker on the team the moment and the grade should be higher with the potential impact of the freshman in the rotation too. Defensive backfield is the best position group on defense- one of the deepest in the country.

Arnold is better than Cobb. There's some young talent at LB but un proven, also Eric Gentry is a big wild card. I'm not sure you know enough about the camaraderie to make that statement about the D Backs. The D backs will be difficult for teams in the Big. Much much higher chance of winning 9-11 than just 5-6. Generally good analysis, thanks.

Good assessment overall, and trust me, I know I’m biased as a usc fan but the our secondary is not a potential weakness, it’ll finish as one of the top of the nation with transfers like John Humphrey, DeCarlos Nicholson, and greedy Vance jr, just watch the spring game. our biggest problem is D line and O line depth which is basically non existent. Also linebacker is at least a B, great impact transfer in Easton Macarenas Arnold, Eric Gentry is great in coverage and mason cobb led the team in tackles

Michigan has 5 starters returning. Their defensive line is solid, rbs are solid. That’s all we know. They have to replace their entire offensive line! Bump that up to a pick em game. Penn state has a lot of guys to replace as well but they should have a solid defense. Running back is their most solid position on offense. Who knows if they will be able to toss the ball

You do realize the only reason we were down was one we had damn near 6 years of sanctions followed by a 6 year stretch of having the worst coach to ever be at USC. So of course over the past 12 years a whole generation of kids grew up seeing USC suffer. But even Still USC puts out elite talent all the time. Go look at the NFL, Hall of Fame, All Americans. USC is instantly the class of the Big10 with Michigan and Ohio State. No other Big10 team can compete with the overall tradition and accolades. 0... And USC has a winning record against the entire damn conference. Once USC gets there NIL figured out just Like Ohio State it's going to be hell for the Big10

@@49erLA thank God I didn't put time in reading all that garbage lol still blaming sanctions in 2024 is hilarious and pathetic but not surprising. USC did more damage to itself with all the horrible hires but let's not bring that up lol and when did I ever say USC is a joke ? Lol I said let's hold off calling kids elite when they've hardly played. Get out yo feelings

Like I have stressed a thousand times it is a POSSIBLE weakness because of the lack of time the secondary has played together, it may cost them early in the season. I am not saying that they are not talented because they are VERY talented.

@@David_USC I believe USC will beat LSU, they matchup well and I think LSU is overrated. A win against Penn St. Will be very tough in my eyes, but USC should have a fighting chance in that one. Yet I do not think USC will go into the Big House and beat Michigan, I may be wrong but I think USC does not matchup well to Michigan.

@@brandonjones5751 Elite is a strong room, but there is no doubt that the talent is there! The important thing is that they need to learn to work together as a unit so stuff like busted coverages don't happen. No doubt there is talent there!

All of our QBs are ranked 4th tier. For example, JM last year in 4 crucial games at UNLV threw 8 TDs and 8 INTs with 20 yards rushing. In 4 non-bowl games, MM was 1 TD and 1 INT. Our center has never played a snap at center. FPI = 18 w/ 5 above us, SP+ = 23 w/ 5 above us, Vegas = 7 wins. We will be going 7-5, 8-4, 6-6 then lose in the First Responders Bowl and be 8-5 or so AGAIN. We have never been to the CFP, we only have a 2.5% chance of going this year, and we not been relevant for 15 years. Yes I'm sick to my stomach about us.

USC is about 2 years away from making the playoffs in my opinion.
