Glad we finally got to see you test this skate. It would be cool if there was an episode where you put adapt soles on different flat bottom boots. Maybe a modifications episode?
Your experience seems spot on with mine so far. Except they were very tight on me in some parts. It comes down to the plastic being very rigid. You need to find an insole to take up that extra room because the lace area doesn't move much. The opposite to the 908 I would imagine.
Decided to jump back in to skating my salomon st's plastics crumbled Years ago and my TR-8 I went to put on for the first time in like 8 years and the cuff plastics were so brittle it just broke apart. I have been watching all your videos I feel like your reviews are perfect for what im looking for ultimately I scored some USD VII Abrate boots for $150 and went with some GC 3x110mm frames and ill get some street frames and wheels here shortly! great channel man! 40 here and I am super excited to get back into the things I did as a teen/kid with my kids
@@BacktoBlading Absolutely, your posts and reviews have inspired me to try out more variations with my skates. On my 4th pair in 8 months and more to come. The search for the perfect setup (for me) continues. The VII with slimlines and anti-rocker is close atm actually! Lomax Throne III's on the way now and most likely Seba CJ2's next.
So, I've been looking for a set of vii's domestically in a size 11-13. I've not been able to find a pair besides the olives and I didn't get into the color. Today, I finally ordered everything to build a pair of them. I'm pretty excited to out them together. Next question is keep my oysi on my classic thrones or put them on the vii's and use my megas.
@@BacktoBlading I've had to mod all of my other skates for them as is. I have the dremmel already charged lol. I found that my grey megas look better on my thrones since they're all grey with white tumor souls. I'm pretty excited to get them and put them all together. Do you have pics of different liners in that boot? I have my reign Slim's I was going to use in them
So you know. The double lace hole is kinda a 45 degree strap. Go in and out at lace and it locks your foot in. Trust me. There's a reason usd keeps using those lace holes.
@@BacktoBlading for sure bro. I customized my 7's by putting the Adapt symetric one piece soleplates . they slide like a dream and i have the MoonShine antirocker middle wheels . they slide really fast too.
I have both this model and the Abrate pro model. For their price you cant beat them. The soulplates are perfection imo. I use the VII soulplates on my Carbons as well. I only skate the Carbons now because they feel lighter to me than the VII, but I'm not saying these are heavy. They are a great skate! Only issue I've heard of is the shell cracks easily if you skate in cold weather. I've never experienced this problem first hand though. Definitely one of my favorites.
I got interested in breaking out my old skates and getting back into it as a way to get at least some exercise. I don't remember the model but I have old (2000-ish) Roces. Replaced the bearings cause they were pretty much seized. Put them on and immediately remembered why I stopped using them. They are too narrow and cause foot pain within minutes. I don't have a super wide foot, but is there an entry level boot with a wider foot size than Roces? I hear they run narrow. Thanks!
thanks for your review, great job. just one thing, SL are not really flat. they come with a really thick shock absorber which in my opinion makes them one of the most comfortable models out there
@@BacktoBlading oooh my friend if you like comfort you gotta have SLs believe me I have tried different models and those are the best in my opinion. That's why I have 3 pairs and not planning to let them go.
@@BacktoBlading I also have a pair of the VII pianowski, all I did was put my TRS liner in them because they come with a thick shock absorbers and they work awesome
Which do you prefer, these or the Shadows? I know it's early in your testing so this may be difficult to answer. I'm looking at new skates and I'm in between the the Roman Abrate's or the Shadows. As always, keep up the good work. Your reviews are the best.
Hmm, I think the Shadow are a lot of fun but maybe not for everyone. That system has flaws which limit the setups you can ride. Those Abrate aren’t my favorite looking, but I’ve heard they skate really nice.
Trying an older USD VII model a few years back, the best way I could think of describing how they felt was... like USD's attempt to make a Razors skate. Not that it's an insult in any way, I'm a big fan of Razors SL's and loved the VII's much more than I was expecting to, but they definetly felt more closer to the feel Genesys and SL's had than they did the old Throne models. Speaking of Thrones... Bring them back please USD...
It kinda looks like USD’s attempt at making a Razors type boot, like an SL with a low cut soul plate. It does look good though, that model in particular.
@@BacktoBlading definitely! I just started this week after 11 years, I am glad I chose the alchemy pure airs because the width is really helping me gain more confidence in grinding again. I cleared my first ledge today. Your videos are very helpful!
@@BacktoBlading it lasted about 11 months theres a whole in my BOOT because of cess slides and the edge of the frame ripped and the bolt won't stay put.... but my new skates are coming this wensday😆☺
