Following on from the Southwold boat sheds watercolour painting. I thought it needed a little something extra, so decided to add a wash of "milk". A wet wash technique to create a vignette effect and add another layer of atmosphere.

Gotta say, it's pretty gutsy to take a risk like that with an nicely settled, finished painting.

@@ChrisStephenArt yeah, watercolor is transparent, it's very hard to ruin it with such light colors that his using with so much water. I hardly even noticed much difference, just that edge got a bit lighter.

Merci

What would be the difference in appearance if white watercolor paint was used instead of gouache?
@ChrisStephenArt
@ChrisStephenArt 10 дней назад
White watercolour is opaque, so it would be pretty much the same.

Lovely! Are those all gouache paints? Do you think you can use titanium/Chinese white mixed with regular watercolour paints?
@ChrisStephenArt
@ChrisStephenArt 11 дней назад
Thank you. Yes, they’re all gouache. Absolutely, Chinese white will work perfectly
