Use pig to reclaim overgrown farmland, plowing with pigs year 6

We have no tractor and are now in the 6th year where the pigs dig and plow for us and reclaim old farmland from the spruce forest that had taken over the whole small farm when we bought it. The homestead and slow soil recreation would not have been the same without the happy and eager contribution of the mangalitsa pigs.

Last year when I saw your pigs digging I could not believe it is possible to prepare the soil this way. Just never heard of it. Apparently it is working 🐖🐖 Beautiful potatoes rows 🥂 All the homestead so green and beautiful. ❤ Have lovely day 🐑🐕🐖🐤

🥰Thank you very much. It's really fun to see the big differences from year to year. We're glad we didn't take the easy route of heavy machinery, fossil fuel and fast pace. It seems that both the animals and the nature around us are more harmonious with this slow but steady pig digging method☺️😅 Hope you had a nice weekend and have a good week ahead. ☺️🌞🌱

Looks like nice fields. Do the pigs eventually up-root the remaining tree stumps?

Where our pigs have been 5-6 times, even the biggest roots are gone☺️ The first time they take all smaller three roots and loosen the soil a lott, then bigger and bigger roots are dug up when they are back in the same area. ☺️ 🙂

Fantastic work Siv and Soren..I hope to get a rare breed of pig too here. I am doing this work in my garden..taking out roots and stones..trial and error with seeds here..my soil is heavy clay soil but am working hard to improve the soil quality and removing lots of big stones and roots..hoping that my seeds germinate.Kind regards,Fiona

Thank you very much♥ It sounds like you are making a formidable effort, - clay soil, roots and stones.. that is time-consuming! You would probably have a lot of help from pigs too😅Hope things are going well with you, the Homestead and all the animals♥

Yes Siv, I don't mind manual work thankfully and clay soil is very fertile and holds moisture during dry weather so I make the most of what I have,in time I will get a rare breed of Irish or English free range pig, ducks and donkeys from the donkey sanctuary if I am alive and well. I am starting to build a new goat milking stand and a new shed this year, you can see on my youtube channel.Have a great week.Pigs are fantastic but I work part time so keeping animals is a lot of work. But slowly I hope to try to be self sufficient.Best wishes,Fiona@@wildandwoolly

I admire your positive attitude and ability to see the benefits and make the best of what you have. It's so great!!☺️🥰 Such exciting projects you are working on, we want to sit down and watch your channel tonight. Understand well that it is challenging with many animals when you work away.🐖🐑🦆

Thank you very much for allowing us to join you on a trip to your wonderful garden🌱🙂 We have relaxed with a little evening trip to Ireland, and it was so interesting to see all your plant projects. You really do a lot of different things. Such beautiful roses, and all the cute little houses❤️🥰 It is unfortunately not possible to comment on your videos.. otherwise we would have done it there. Wishing you a lovely evening ahead. Hugs from Søren and Siv
