I'll tell you what I told the last guy who commented that same lack of resourcefulness comment: Because alternative app options, mentioned in the video and linked in the description (which you seem to not have watched or read) can be had as low as $10. Or if you're an Android user, look thru the comments for even cheaper than that......
@@CoalitionGaming ....just...paying 20 bucks only to find out the app might not work on $phone and/or provide insufficient results is a bit much. I don't mind paying good money for good software, but I am not going to spend money without being able to test before. Sorry. Also: You might want to add that it HEAVILY depends on whatever smartphone you use. Most tutorials are like "Use your OLD smartphone as a camera blahblah". What they don't tell the people is that OLD smartphones give you shit framerates, overheat, crash and what not. A Galaxy S3 IS an OLD smartphone and doesn't go above 9 FPS. The S4 hardly does 15 FPS. A Nexus 5 does 30FPS but feels like it is melting after a while, starts stuttering and eventually crashes. Those apps work fine....if used for a short time. Over longer periods of time this is not a viable solution. Not Alfred, NDI, IP Webcam Pro, Fritz, Sekuret, and and and. None of them.
@@501nenah I'm not making any assumptions as to what phones the viewers of this video have, I don't (and didn't) need to add anything especially considering the fact that I wouldn't know what other people's phones are capable of. What I do know is any modern smartphone can record at least in 30fps in video mode and that goes all the way back to my HTC Eris so I'm just going by what the sensor itself already does. This is a RU-vid video, of course YMMV lol. You cited plenty of Android phones to lead me to think you're an Android user and you're making yourself come off as somewhat intelligent...... Yet you're complaining about the price of the app. Try putting a little more effort in.
I think the best use of this is to bring another dynamic to “brb” screens. And I can’t think of streamers that do that so it’ll help you stand out. Also, tell that weird fuck on the stream you were watching to chill.
definitely dig that for BRB screens....buttttt most of my BRBs are bathroom visits....sooooooooooo yeah. You know, i think that guy on the stream will never chill. Well, as long as the right tunes are on :)

I have been using this to turn my phone into a high quality document camera. OBS allows you to add so many features also. I use IP Webcam now and it is free.
@@sherwingerald I am sure the tutorial works great. I didn't want to pay $20 for an app with low ratings. I used IP Webcam instead. It is free and it worked well for me. I use OBS mainly for making lessons for my students. Many people use OBS for live streaming and recording high quality videos. One day I tried my phone as a document camera and found the quality to be amazing and considering that it didn't cost me anything I thought it might be of interest to others. I use iVCam and its desktop app. I get flicker from the lighting which is weird because I don't get that under the same lighting using the phone only. Haven't tried with OBS yet.
The google search gives multiple hits but if you go to the newtek.com page and scroll to the very bottom, NDI Camera, it will have the app link into itunes. So no android software. You need to remove the google play link as it does not exist.

All this time I thought I had to buy a fancy webcam. Why do that when I spent a small fortune on a phone already which has a decent camera and the ability to download just about any software.
Thanks dude this is fantastic! One the reason why I have another rig in the process of being built is because of ndi. I didn’t know bout the phone cam but now I’ll be able to put my old spare phone to good use rather than collect dust.

What about using a USB camera but on a separate computer for example if I use a laptop to stream using ndi can I use that laptops built-in webcam as an additional source
Sounds like you enabled ndi output on your computer. You don't need to do that. Just activate the app on the phone, wait a few minutes, then try adding it as a source. There is also an OBS NDI FAQ video linked in the description.

@@jocerv43 actually everything in it is, and also the OBS NDI tutorial also linked in the description. They both address OBS NDI usage on windows, which facilities the use of the NDI app demonstrated in this video.
@@jocerv43 again, everything is useful and relevant, you just can't see it because you just don't know and that's okay. If something does not show up in the source name, it can be firewall/network related (addressed in the troubleshooting/FAQ video) or it could be the user is not selecting the source out of the drop-down where the source name should be (example shown in the NDI tutorial video). Typing a source name is new, but selecting the box and dropping finding your source in the drop-down is shown in both the troubleshooting FAQ vid, and the tutorial. I hope you're not trying to help anyone with NDI advice lol. Just send them to me, I'll get em fixed up. Also my original response asked the person with a problem a question, and they never responded. Not my fault they never come back for the help I'm offering.

Why am I not seeing NDi source? I have NDI correctly installed. It show in Tools NDI output settings. Guess that is to stream to another PC. What did I miss?
You add the NDI source as I showed in the video. If you opened the phone app and activated it after opening OBS, wait a few minutes before trying again. OBS polls for new NDI sources infrequently. You can also try leaving the phone app open and activated, closing OBS, then reopening OBS. If you're still having issues, many of the firewall and network related fixed covered in the FAQ video can help.
My Windows 10 Firewall is not letting the NDI signal from my phone through. I need to disable the firewall in order to make it work. Any idea what exception can be added (and how?) Thanks
I have the app on my phone and NDI and OBS installed correctly. The only issue I am having is when I go to add my phone in the NDI under source name I cannot find my phone.
Once I create the source, I go to 'snyc' and internal is not an option. Only 'Network' and 'Source Timing' are there. If i choose either one and click 'ok' I do not get a picture at all....
Make sure obs is allowed thru the windows firewall. Also enable "media streaming" on the computer. You shouldn't have to mess around the sync timing. Turn ndi on on the phone, wait 5 minutes for OBS to poll the network for an ndi device, then go add the source and it should pop up on the list then you just click ok to confirm to add it and it should work.

Will it cook the battery? I need a camera where the video will stay on for over 1 hr + without burning up the battery. Tried to use my Samsung mega but it shut down after 10 min on video recording. Will the Logitech C920 webcam last longer than 1 hour for video recording at 1920x1080 help
@@deanmatters I don't think there is. I have not tried yet (because busy and lazy) but there are other programs for Android. Like CamON Live Streaming. Planning on testing that.
Ok, watched all youtube videos on the issue, downloaded and installed both apps. I made sure my firewall is not blocking anything (turned it off actually). Both phone and computer are on same network. I press the button to turn from white to red on phone. I followed instructions to get OBS going with NDI. The outline for the phone screen shows up on the OBS display screen, but the image is black. My best guess is that, based on what I see in the NDI source properties, my phone isn't showing up as one of the ndi source options. Any thoughts from the group?
Enable media streaming, if windows 10, on the computer. Make sure the computer's network configuration is also set to "private." Also, start the phone and app a few minutes before adding the ndi source on the computer.
I have downloaded the obs-ndi plug in but the obs is not recognising my iphone 6+ on the same wifi so could you please answer this problem for me as I have done every thing you youtube video suggests
I am getting a lot of jumps and dropped frames over using NDI. My gaming laptop with OBS (which streams with a webcam and Elgato Cam link hooked to a DSLR just fine) is plugged into ethernet, and I tried streaming my phone in the same room as my router to see if it would improve, and it did not. Are there any settings that will improve things?
Hey sir OBS is not recognizing my phone when I go to the stores and click add, it's just audio on browser color display nothing that recognizes my phone also with the app the video shows and if I hit record is doing nothing is not something up in the left-hand corner like yours was there was blinking with recording and no notification popped up as well.
Once you hit the red button in the app, wait a few minutes then try adding the ndi source like shown in the video. If you don't have the ability to add an NDI source, OBS ndi tutorial video is linked in the description.
Can you connect two phones to OBS or any other broadcasting service? Also, if you want to connect via cable to Mac, is that possible to prevent possible lag or dropout from my internet connection?
This works over the network connection, namely wifi. Plugging a cable on will only help it stay charged while in use. Yes you can use multiple devices in OBS with this method
Can I turn off the phone audio while it records? Because I just want to solely use my mic. And will I be also able to simultaneously record the PC Screen while using this?
The app is for phones. If you want to use your macbook's webcam alone as an NDI source on another PC then just install OBS studio and the NDI plugin, then add your webcam as a source there, set the video settings, enable NDI output, then go to the main PC you want to use and add the NDI source there.
You'd have to use a green screen with this method, and OBS to key it out. Otherwise using an app like IVcam, which I have a video on, thru something like xsplit vcam or RTX broadcast can remove the background virtually
I might just have upgraded from a Microsoft HD3000 to the lovely 48MP sensor in my Xiaomi Redmi note 7 Pro! time to replicate this for a streamer friend of mine before the weekend.
I assume you installed the ndi plugin to OBS studio, but it sounds you enabled the ndi output on the computer which you don't need to do. There is a FAQ video linked in the description which details some fixes for NDI on the PC. For the phone, after activating NDI, just let it sit for a few minutes before trying to add it on the PC and it should come up.
