Love the randomness of these kinds of projects and using a pile of discarded paper towels makes it even more satisfying. Beautiful journal! Thanks for sharing. -Marsha from Texas
Well done Nina ..those cardboard inserts are such a great idea .. you have dressed yours up beautifully .. loads of room there for scraps !! Thank you . xx
Absolutely beautiful. Just looking at the journal, without seeing the tutorial, you'd never think you could make something that lovely, but now it seems within the realm of possibility!! TFS
Hello Nina, that’s so awesome. I really love 💕 all those beautiful colours and what a brilliant idea 💡 using all those mop up tissues. Thank you so much lovely 💖💗💕 xxx Mags
Thanks Ash. I had a blast making this and it was a lovely reminder of the original projects I had made. I’m very happy with this cover and will enjoy using it. Have a wonderful week 💕 xxxxxxx
Oh, you would not believe this I threw away a duvet packing like that just recently I thought it was a little too big, lesson learnt. Yours look great Nina, now looking forward to catching up with 2019 projects! Thank you.
Hello Nina, I love your junk journal cover. I just started to keep my baby wipes that I use for cleaning up paint so it will be a while before I can do a project using them. I am going to use paper scarps to cover a box for my project this week. Have a beautiful day Nina! TFS
I have kept several of those over the years because they were just such perfect “book” covers! However when I did a “deep clean” and sort a few months ago I actually tossed them all! 😖 I love this project! I loved watching your process! I prefer the inside to the outside, personally, but the outside is gorgeous! And so fun!!! I’m excited to see you fill it up! Love the weekly challenges this year! Thanks so much for sharing! As always you’re very inspirational!!💙💙💙
I love your cover, Nina! All the colors and texture...so yummy! It´s amazing how much scraps we accumulate; I haven´t been able to do much, but I still have a lot of scraps, lol. I love these "use your scraps" projects. Take care, hugs, Fia
Thanks Fia, glad you like it. Its ridiculous the amount of scraps we accumulate and feel are too ‘precious’ half the time to use. I am on a mission to change that this year 💕💕💕. Hugs 😘 xxxxxx
Just got round to watching this now after being away for a little while and I absolutely love it. I want to make a similar thing myself but wasn't sure where to start. Well watching you video has sorted that little problem out!!! Thank you, Nina. Fab as ever!
Oh yes love all those colours with your paper towels... I made a handbag journal for my junk and scraps week.... Now I want to make another one like this too... Thanks for the great inspiration xxx
Beautiful riot of colour Nina, I almost feel I want to go buy a duvet so I can have a journal that size lol! I need to get scouring to see what I could use as this is just perfect xxx💕
Just love how this ended up! It has a gorgeous Indian feel about it with those vibrant colours! I definitely see the influence of your Boho sari scraps! 😍 xxx
So beautiful! I have quite a lot of heavy cardboard that I've been wondering what to do with. Definitely, some will be used on a project like this! tfs
Lovely project NIna! I just happen to have all the" ingredients" for once!!! I never throw away these cardboard sleeves. Mine has been used to store some old paperwork I had kept down the side of my filing cabinet!! Now I can pretty it up! x
I can see I am going to have to start using paper towels to stamp on 😂.Think I have a few baby wipes left, but normally wipe and stamp off on paper these days and make scrappy background papers 😄.Love your cover X
I have been hoarding onto these for a long time, just waiting for the ‘right’ project to use them on. My stash has now diminished drastically, which I am really happy about. The paper towels were very pliable and easy to use for this, and the texture is lovely as it feels like fabric. Glad you like it 💕 xxxxx
Thanks Annie. We all love our mop up towels don’t we and I’m so pleased with the way this turned out. The texture is wonderful too as it feels like fabric. Can’t wait to see what you come up with 💕 xxxxxxxxx
This is beautiful, and I love how you have handled all those scraps! Truly like the way you handled the elastic for the inserts, I will use that =) I have been making journals for awhile, but I am always open to ideas and new ways of creating them. You have brought a fresh outlook to the process for me in the way you layer all that color. I enjoy watching you, you are a lot of fun to listen to as well. Great job, and really nice work
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia I also think your method of putting a temporary elastic binding in is genius! I ptefer working in a book format, but I also like having the flexibility of having the pages available to take out to add sewing or whatever. Sheer genius and I have not seen that before. Great job.
Very Cool... Love how it came out... I have accumulated a variety of elements over the past year to use for this prompt. I find it quite a challenge to a actually use them so look forward to seeing you fill your scrap journal. TFS and have a great day! :-)
Hi, Nina! It’s awesome 😍! I really love it, so I think, this time, I will do the same project in the same way. I have got a lot of cardboard and some paper towels full of paint and/or watercolors. I have got some pieces of wc paper and baby wipes too. I’m so excited! See you soon 😘
Thanks so much Meritxell. I was a good feeling using some of those painty paper towels that I have been hoarding onto. Glad you are excited, and I look forward to seeing yours 💕💕💕
What a lovely project - those cardboard packaging inserts are always worth keeping!! I also have a lot of the elastic from Tiger, although not pretty pastel colours...I need to keep my eye out for other colours!
This is so, so pretty! I love everything about it - I must get myself in gear and do my own junk journal. I wonder if baby wipes would be stronger - that's what I'll try! I'll let you know! Thanks for sharing Nina! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much Helen. I think baby wipes will be perfect for this, especially if you are using a slightly thinner cardboard than the one I used for mine. As you say they will give it added strength. Can’t wait to see what you come up with 💕💕💕
Those colours are something else!! So vibrant. 👍🏻😄 Getting the extra texture from the stencils is something that I do in my own junk and art journals....I use a little sponge to dab as well. So much fun watching. Joie ❣️🌿😀
This is great! I had something like that and I threw it away because I have just to much stuff that I might use one day :) Now I wished that I had kept it. I'm sure there will be plenty of more opportunities to use something like that :)
Isn’t that always the way. You keep something for an age, and as soon as you part with it, you need it! I’m sure you will find something else that will do the job 💕
Love this idea and how you decorated it! I've saved a couple of these pre-folded journal covers, haha, from buying a chair and love seat cover. They are heavy but now I'm worried mine will crack because the inner fluted corrugated sheet goes opposite the direction of yours! I never realized that till I saw yours. I think mine would bend too easily with use, darn it!!! Yours definitely will hold up! Of course, I guess it wouldn't matter, it'd be kind of like a fabric cover once it was pliable! Am I making any sense? Lol! Thanks, Nina, excited to see more in your book! Hugs, Debra
The layers of tissue and glue has really hardened and strengthened my cover, so I think yours will probably be fine too if you decoupage it. I have also made one with napkins, and that looks pretty too. Hugs 💕💕💕
Love your journal! You are so talented ❤️ I have so much junk I save (also known as treasures) and so many scraps that I’m so happy we will have monthly prompts and maybe I will actually use up some of them 😆
