I'm not exactly a fan of Kawasaki green either but I absolutely LOVE the ZX-9R. I owned one similar year but in Red. Beautiful 😍 bike 🏍. Sometimes I still miss it 😭 !
I still own the 2002 zx9r red. Its fantastic, best bike i had so far. I got a z1000 this year, was going to sell my baby, but i sold the z1000 again instead of my zx9r 😄. Now i just got a 2006 zx12r. It realy looks like ill be parting with my zx9r now. But still not sure, thats how much i love my zx9r 😄💖
I’ve ridden all three bikes and I absolutely agree with Kevin’s choice. I totally love the smooth response and handling of the Kawasaki. And considering the price it’s the best of the three, great going Kevin 👏
I've got a zx9r atm. Handling is ok. I'll be swapping out the shock tho as I feel it's past its best. The zx9 is a good bike don't get me wrong but after 30k miles the rear shock is goosed.
I also had the 2002 zx6r (grey), bought the 2002 zx9r(red) 3 years ago.... if you love the zx6r like me, you will also lovvvve the zx9r!! You feel so much more power, and they cost near to nothing now! I just bought a 2006 zx12r, don't have it yet, but im curious to its handling as well. Kawasaki 💖 😊🤟🏻
Another thing I would add to prolong chain life would be to examine the wear on the front sprocket teeth. If you catch them before they are worn out you can change it for a new one. I say this because when a front sprocket is worn it slams into the chain and will wear it out faster than it should but if you replace the front sprocket three times it will give you chain and rear sprocket extended life. A front sprocket rotates three times faster than the rear.
Valves need regular checkups too. Mine is a 2003 with 16,000 mile's, very little history, had 12 closed up tight out of 16!!! This then needs the cams removing and shimming. Massive job! So if you don't get any history of it being done, either haggle cash off or or just walk away.
@@69VAJRA No it's not, I've done loads with mine, then worked on friends bikes of other marks and they are a pig to work on. To the OP, all bikes of this era need them checked more regular than modern bikes, but not super often, got my ZX9r at 16k miles, now at 22k miles, still doesn't need them done, but I will at some point in the near future as they likely have never been done.
My bike mechanic says never judge the chain tension with the wheel suspended off the ground and also that the usual rider should be sitting on the bike when the chain tension is being checked?
Nothing wrong with doing so, in fact you can't do it with the wheel on the ground as the wheel needs to move back. Also on paddock stands it's just as it is with the wheel on the ground, as it's weight is still compressing the suspension, therefore tightening the chain a little due to the swingarm being at the same position as when it is on the ground. But even on an ABBA superbike stand it's fine to adjust the chain, just remember the chain will tighten a little more once the bike is put down, and again when you get on it.
How can you give a Fireblade or any superbike a 9 for practicality? Also, I've watched a few of these now and that poor presenter always has her work cut out for her to get anything like a coherent or entertaining response or decent review out of any of the guests. She does her damnedest!
Classic bikes now, for the over 50's. Find one and make it totally original. No silly coloured bolts, stubby silencer, mini Indicators, coloured screens or wheel rim tape.
I wasn't that well when riding these. Just finished a course of radiotherapy & piled on the pounds. The R1 was a bag of bolts & broke down several times & also had other issues.

Kawasaki ZX-9R has torque at the expense of engine vibes and a lot of engine rasp. It's a very long stroke engine compared to a 600 or modern 1000's. Long stroke engines always make better street bikes, except the vibration at certain RPM ranges (75mph/4500rpm) can be annoying on some bikes. I haven't ridden the 9R but reviews say the engine is a bit obnoxious and unrefined.
Kawasaki has always had the ugliest possible paint schemes and even worse stickers. Anyone who bought a Kawasaki did so because the turned a blind eye to their awful colors.
