I hear you guys, but what's amazing is that ONLY the vehicles WE OWN are now all of a sudden worth much less, UNTIL it lands on a dealers floor! Used vehicles on dealer floors have not nearly tanked as much as the value of used vehicles in private hands! The Jag my wife own is ONLY worth $18K on a trade, but that exact same vehicle sells for just north of $30K when on the dealer's lots. Dealers as STILL screwing over customers and best thing, I agree with you Zach, is to keep it and drive it! Let the dealers go belly up, one after the other - and I really have ZERO sympathy for dealers who are really struggling now!

Don't bet on any Stellantis brand to roll back MSRP's to pre-Stellantis prices. Ford isn't going to cut much off the price of a Bronco -- the high price is to cover the gas guzzler hit to their CAFE average by subsidizing the losses they're taking on trying to sell EV's nobody wants. Citing "$92k for a Chevy truck" is pretty vague. Which class of Chevy truck? What trim level? If $92k is for a loaded up luxury trim is too expensive for you, why are you even LOOKING at that trim? You can get a 3/4-ton Chevy truck for $55k or you get it for $90k. If $90k is too much, well I guess you just have to buy a trim you can afford. Same with a 1/2-ton Chevy. You can get one for $40k or you can get a fully loaded one for $70k. Oh you think the truck is too expensive? I guess you can't afford it, so stop complaining and buy a trim you can afford. Guys can whine until they're blue in the face, truck MSRP's are not going to drop $30k across the board no matter how many people post comments on youtube saying "prices are too high, i'm not buying a new truck until prices drop 50%!"

@@karlschauff7989 I think it's just his flawed approach to debate where he is using big numbers because they're impressive. A lot of the high price feels are in the low end where the numbers aren't too big. The new Tacoma is expensive AF. There is a whopping 1 new car at my local Toyota dealership below 30k and there isn't a used toyota with less than 85k miles sub $20k. I got a legacy for 16k fresh off of lease, low 40k miles a few years ago. if someone's car breaks down and they need to replace it; they're pretty fucked right now.
@EddieJazzFan
@EddieJazzFan 3 месяца назад
Years ago, people bought cars and kept them for a long time after the loan was paid off. Or if they paid cash, they would start saving for their next car right away so when the car was completely worn out they would have the money saved for a replacement. This mentality of getting a brand new car every 3-4 years is ridiculous. It just makes the banks rich with your interest payments.
@stevenbesson8988
@stevenbesson8988 3 месяца назад
They made cars to last years ago, now it’s a consumable and expect you to trade in every 3-4 years. As soon as the warranty is up expect major break downs, people would rather finance new cars rather than buy a new engine or transmission.

This has to be interesting for people who recently paid "market adjustments" on their new cars. Or, as I see it, the "f*** you, you'll pay it" fee. Assuming they don't trade with negative equity, I'd imagine that adds time that they need to keep that new vehicle before they're even with the loan. That's more time for interest and additional depreciation on a car they don't want anymore. I would buy six 1990's Buicks to keep one 1990's Buick running before I'd pay that fee out of principle. That is simply price gouging and screws the customer for the entire length of their vehicle ownership.

Correction: Newer used cars are depreciating because they were sold at ridiculously high prices and have high interest loans. Anything bought before the pandemic is holding its value just fine because the MSRP on those vehicles was realistic and not over inflated. Sometimes, life circumstances require you change your vehicle type. Once, a long time ago, everyone drove a sedan. Now, you either buy a tiny coupe, a pickup truck, or an SUV. (Geez, I haye SUVs. If a car could be indecisive, it would be an SUV!) But, my point is, at different stages of your life, you'll be better served with different models.

I don't think a car loan is entirely terrible but its these 72 and 84 month loans that need to stop.. if you put 20% down and 36 or 48 month terms you will always have equity in the car.. If you do a 36 month loan and buy a car every 36 months you will always have a payment but it won't be that bad because a 3 year old car with under 40K miles is high value trade in so you can put 40-50% down. I think this is the thing to do if you aren't mechanically inclined at all... this way you never even have to buy tires your only car cost is the payment and gas.

I said ok, I asked what his out the door price was, he said I don't know, they don't give me a price sheet. He went into his manager to get the price, and then he and his manager came out. The manager said the price, asked again, what is your out the door price, he came down 2k, Then I asked a few more questions, And 5 minutes later, I asked, what was that price, he went up a thousand. My out the door price with state tax, doc fee, transfer tag fee & trade in was $30,733, only financed $20,733. I would have paid cash but all of my bank CD's are paying more interest than what Honda offered for interest rates. The amount of negative equity depends on which dealership you choose to do business with. its simple if you arrive at a dealership that posted the lowest price online and NEEDS to recoup thousands of dollars from your trade then you are going to get lowballed and will have much more negative equity to carry over -- Its important to find the honest dealerships with honest prices with the ability to give you more for your trade and not push the add-ons and raise the rate or require financing at all- these dealerships do exist but are harder to find cause they dont post fake low prices to artificially look like they have great prices online
