Wowww, this car is a legend! I still have a magazine called Highway Malaysia that I found when I was a kid back in 1997. The last cover page showed the advert for Wira EXi with the picture of a Rally Wira EXi driven by the legendary Karamjit Singh! As a kid, seeing that rally advert itself made it so cool! The car really suits you Chris. Hope you got it! P.S. You know what I love about this video.... it is the most united Malaysian video ever. Here's why: The owner of the car (a Malay) meets you (a Chinese), bumps into your enthusiast friend (an Indian), all geeking out over a Malaysian legend (🇲🇾) which was driven by a legendary Malaysian race driver (a Sikh). All happening in Batu Pahat, Johor You can't get any more Malaysian than that! Kudos 👍🏼
HOW DID I MISS THIS FANTASTIC COMMENT!!! Thank you Aaron, so sorry for the late response, as usual YT didn't notify me... Yup, you're right, I just realised how very muhibbah this video is!! Hahaha!! Lovely. Thanks bro 🙏🏽👍🏾😀
It's amazing how you always manage to find these rare gems. Thanks again for sharing. I feel so different towards Proton nowadays thanks to all your recent videos!
This a gem. My first car. I wish i could have kept the car but due to financial constraints back in 1999 economic downturn i had to sell the car. Kept it as original as possible. Till now i never come across. WFU 5080. Mine was the 2nd last unit
Wow, sorry to hear that, but who knows, maybe one day you'll find it again, good luck!! Thanks for watching and the feedback though, much appreciated 🙏🏽👍🏾😊
13:11 this is what you called real petrolheads. Two friends aiming at same car. No matter who buy that car, im very glad that car will end up with real car ethusiast
My mom used to have this exact model of wira 1.8 EXI.... sadly she was deceived by a KIA car dealer enticing her with KIA Carens II.... and she sold it to for a mere 13k to a relatives back in the 2004....I became master driving stick shift (manual) using this car ever since getting my license.... I personally drove this car top speed 195 km/h and that goal post spoiler really did it's job making sure the rear part of the car doesn't oversteer in high speed...
Just to tell my story. My late father bought new Wira 1.8EXi auto on 1996, booked the tiang gol but end up with auto because missed the stock (he took govt loan that had to wait 3 months to settle). Sold it to me on 2003 with stock parts and 71k mileage. I kept the unit until 2010 with 325k mileage because need to repair a lot of things such as 4 rusted doors and a rusted roof, faulty ABS sensor and the gearbox giving problem again (4th unit)... During with me, I kept it standard, just small tweak such as free flow extractor, overhauled engine, then port n polished with quarter race matspeed camshaft, sapura-leda coil spring and bilstein shocks and upgraded brakes with DOT5 fluid, metal braided brake line and upgraded brake pads. The rim still standard AAC rims and fitted with mostly Goodyear F1 D3 and Falken ST115 Inside only Blaupunkt radio replaced with Sony CD player and JBL spakers. Others remain stock until sold. Heard that the car is at Trengganu
great memories bro. a special car for me.. unfortunately, at the time, i had to sell it off. i had it for 10 years, and about 315,000 km clocked.. including mountain drives, track days, BT3 CCTs, autocross competitions.
Hi Gary!! Was waiting for u to chime in, thanks for all the info u provided for this car, I miss yours!! Love the E36, but I'll always remember u for this car 🙏🏽👍🏾😊
I still hv this car year 2005 I can say the best car👍pick up very fast faster than bezza n axia. Aircond also very cold no major repair after so many years part easily to get n very cheap. Very durable n reliable compare to cars nowadays
Of course it's faster than those 2, it's a 1.8-litre DOHC 16V EFi, obviously it's gonna be faster despite its age, hahaha! I would say it's still comparable in performance to sub-2.0L modern cars 😀😀😀
Gosh Chris, such an original specimen. I used to own this model in 1997- 2002. Really missed this amazing gem, the tightness of the body and high speed stability is pure race spec. I'm so missing this car now. Please buy it Chris and i wana come over and drool over it.
Nice bro, nice bro. Belum tengok video sudah like.... Now I already missed my janda, C99 1.8EXi auto. The less glamer version BTW Chris, BUY ONE FOR YOURSELF. The rare Proton
Another damn nice comment slipped by without me being notified, haih!! Thanks Azlan, I am indeed looking for a Proton, but not one u might expect 😉 Stay tuned!!🙏🏽👍🏾😊
@@ChrisWeevilGarage No doubt! Words can't describe how much I love proton cars especially those rare models.Everybody wouldn't believe me whenever I say that my dream car is a proton Iriz :)
Memang!! Dulu I pernah miliki Wira 1.5 sedan auto, keta harian, tapi pernah pandu ke Phuket dan balik, xde hal langsung. Terbaik, cun melecun keta ni 😀🙏🏽👍🏾
This would be an awesome addition to the garage. It’s so hard to find these things not to mention this one is crazy immaculate with all the right parts and low miles too. In my opinion.... you should get this 👍🏾.
I had a homolocated 86.5 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Eurocoupe (full name) Built for Nascar. Owned it for 14 years and kept it stock. Previous owner made me promise to not lower it. I sold it one year ago. Now it's in Portland sporting a Big Block. One of 1,118 claimed to be built. Pontiac had rercord of selling only 211. Started enjoying Mercedes to much to keep investing in an old GM V8 car. Keep the rare original...
No wonder the place looks so familar. Welcome to my hometown Batu Pahat. My bro used to own one of these cars at 2000 but sold few years later. I drove before and it's very fun and good handling.
I just sold mine last year. All original condition accept the rims. Original rims got swapped by my father to his brother wira. Been enthusiastic about wira since little boy. I sold it because got so many cars inside my garage and need to get rid some.
This is epic !! ..what impress me was this awesome look slim 3 spoke momo steering as compared to other Proton's 'sport'' cars .. they did came up with white colour as well for this model rite ? Correct me if wrong ..
So that 'goal post' is a original part installed on this model.? I thought it was third party installment 😅,as a beginner, there's a lot i miss..plet TT 3542,Terengganu plet makes it more interesting,i bet that was in 90s plet..
When i was kid... This was my dream car... So my dad bought one wira 1.5 on 2005.. that car well maintained till my dad passed away on 2017... some minor services need to be done... Some guy ask to buy for around rm 2k ... Somehow after 12 yrs.. still releven
Wiras are still damn good cars if maintained properly! I had a 1.5 auto long ago, I drove it to Phuket and back, zero issues, superb car 😊😊😊🙏🏽👍🏾 Thank you for sharing that car memory bro, much appreciated 🙏🏽😃
Wow!! Amazing 👌😍. Mom had a red wira only did 70,000km everything was original down the the cassette tray thingies we still had em . Sad that we sold it now it was a true workhorse . Never broke down once since we had it in the year 2000. 😃
@@lord_pumpkin5194 ada gmbr2 keta tak? Klu blh tlg emel saya, dan satu hari nti bila u balik kg I nak singgah sana klu blh bro 🙏🏽👍🏾😊 Emel: chris@evomalaysia.com
Many thank to u Chris for uploading all the wonderful car like the Mercedes W124, W126 and so forth, I am also a car fan and wish you could do something on the Nissan Cefiro A31 with the RB engine.
This might be my dad old car, one of the first person to own the 1.8 wira in Terengganu, sold it to a person who offer him to buy it same price as new.
Wow, another nice find! 👍🏼 Not as original as the GTi, but still looks awesome. Funny both changed to double DIN touchscreens.. 😅 Btw, is the lampu minyak on while you’re being chauffeured around?
Original 14-inch AAC alloys!! Damn hard to find now. As usual, many owners of cars like these swapped the original alloys for bigger wheels, and basically threw away these originals, such a waste!!🤦🏽♂️😉
Chris Wee yeah it’s a shame for sure but it’s good for us rally guys who can’t afford to buy those beautiful and expensive original rally rims such as OZ Racing, Compomotive, Speedline Corse and all of those rally wheels. So most of us just use that rim as rally rims on our rally cars 😁
Ni mmg wira 1.8 betol ke? Ada tengok lagi satu video, 1.8 original ada cruze control. Pastu dekat signal tu ada lagi satu batang untuk cruze control. Mohon penjelasan. Ke ini 1.6 convert 1.8.
now i am the one have this car......hehhehe.....dulu i pernah tanya budak proton whats a diffrent body wira 1.3cc,1.5,1.6 and 1.8.....he told me that the tap weld between other are closer....make the the frame more stable.......i so becareful to not parking at risk area....hahahaha....
good to see them in relatively clean condition, most of these putra and wira 1.8exi i've seen were automatic (yes, you can get the 1.8EXi with Automatic). Also Chris, you should review the Wira Diesel, rarer than all of this 🤣
Hi Chris, if you could find this, please do a review. Proton Aerokit. Widebody iswara aeroback, came in red and five spoke 14 inch alloys. Used to ride in my friend's example in late 90's, early 2000's. Never seen one since.
It was just a variant code, EXtra or EXecutive, with fuel injection instead of a carburettor. But there was also a Saga with an "i" in its name, which stood for "Istimewa" and not EFi, hahaha!!😁
@@ChrisWeevilGarage I ended up bought the wira millennium too coz the gti was out of stock. fitted with apex'i safc+itc, hotbits 4-1, k&n supercharger, apex'i N1 muffler, those were the days
@@ChrisWeevilGarage i always love volvo wagons especially older square models.i think you may consider the Volvo 240GLE shade of dark blue for your 245.
Proton is a Malaysian Version of Lada,Subaru and Mitsubishi Toghether Saga Iswara = Lada Samara (1983-1996) Wira = Mitsubishi Lancer Evo I/II/III (1992-1997)
I have seen a Wira Aeroback with a 1.8L engine, but I don't think it was a DOHC, and I don't remember if it was designated C99 either. My FIL had one a long time ago, manual too 😀
I’m bit frustrated, my aeroback is a genuine 4g93 Dohc Manual, yet there’s no recaro seat nor momo steering wheel. Instead it’s a steering wheel with srs airbag which I can’t replacement part ( airbag expired ) 😕
@@Ray-tr2in Wow, that's a keeper for sure! I could be wrong about the non-DOHC in my FILs car, maybe it was. Can't check now cos he sold it a while back 😕
What they call it "Tiang Goal"? Because of the rear wing? Inside just like new one.. Well Kept...is that the engine light lighted up? Better get the Satria GTI.... not this one. That's more interesting.
